I just think it's strange that I am dropping 30k for a wedding and I have to pay for a dinner there. Do halls normally make you pay if they have a restaurant?

we asked that question on Friday... you do have to pay for a meal... which i think is ridiculous. With my previous engagement, The Swan Club gave us a free meal!!

A full dinner, yes. If you want a tasting - - that's different + restuarant food is different than the party food.

I would think that you would have to pay for a full meal...but a tasting should be free.

They normally will give you a tasting when you go for your menu selection - - by request of course, (usually another party going on, so it's what they have on their menu). You usually start with cocktail samples, wine and then they give you 1 of each entree being served. Speak to your Banquet Manager and state you want a tasting so you know what you want to select for your menu. They should accommodate you.

For a dinner you will have to pay. I did the same thing at WM back in December. I did mention I was getting married there when I made the reservation and I guess they made note of it because the BM gave us a fruit platter and cookies at the end. But that was it. Nice touch though. We were a big group. So I would not expect them to pay for the dinner. But I do want a tasting for free to help me select certain items!!!
