Re: I want to improve my second language. How?
Honestly, I would try to find people who speak French and surround yourself with them. I took Spanish in high school and college but never really got to use it until I became a teacher. I work with many latino people (teachers and students) and by hearing/listening to them, I have been able to bring back what I lost. I would also try to watch French TV. There has to be some channel on cable that has it without subtitles. You would be surprised what comes back to you.

I'm doing the same thing right now! I took french for 4 solid yrs, then stopped for 5. I'm taking an intensive french course (6 undergrad credits) right now at Stony Brook, and it's HARD!!!

Go there!!! Seriously, if you can, go to a French Speaking country, preferrably a small town where they don't all speak English.
It's amazing what comes back to you when you have no other option but to speak it.
Other than that, I would try to read a french translation of a book you've read in English. It really helps you to figure out the words because in a sense, you know what they're trying to say. does that make any sense?

I would go online and look for some chat rooms that support inter-language learning. There maybe some French speaking people wanting to speak better english and by chatting with them in both languages you both benefit. I am currently taking Spanish courses and there a bunch of postings at the school for these types of exchanges. You could also see if any colleges or boces in your area offer conversation courses.
