I want to thank everyone

I want to thank everyone that gave me advice monday regarding my issue with my mother and the conversation we had sunday night.

I ended up giving her the letter that I wrote her at work on monday and when I came home tonight we had a long talk. Everything is ok now. She respects my feelings of not wanting to go to temple and she said she never meant to make me feel guilty. She just thought that since I had Danielle in my life....that I may want to go to temple. I told her that maybe one day down the road i will want to go....but now I dont, so dont try to force me.

We talked About the Chriustmas tree and Danielle bringing her religion into the house....It seems my dad spoke to her about everything before I came home and he talked some sense into her. She said it is ok if we have a tree....I told her that it isnt fair if Danielle cannot be open about her religion here....everything is ok with that now.

The last thing we discussed was the whole living arrangement after Danielle and I get married. Both my father and my mother want us to live here for the first year so we can save money to buy a house. My sister, her husband and her son lived here for 3 years...and now they have a beautiful house of their own....I told her we will have to see....It is a good deal to stay here...and save money. If we get an aparment it will take alot longer to save money....

I am so happy to hear that everything worked out. It took a lot on both your part and your mother's to work through that. You sound like you have a great family and Danielle is lucky to be marrying into it Good luck and best wishes!

Thanks...Yes I have a very close and loving family....Danielle is very lucky....as I am to be marrying her.

Congratulations, you are the FIRST man on earth to have a Jewish mother who apologized for making her child feel guilty!!

All kidding aside, I'm glad you worked your situation out. Religious issues can get so ugly at times (speaking as someone w/ a jewish father and catholic mother), its really great that your family has been able to come to an understanding. Good luck to you!

eroxgirl...I have always had a great relationship with my parents....We have hardly ever gotten into lengthy arguments....Maybe over stupid things but nothing that would have us not talking to each other for a long period of time. Although on certain occasions my mother tries to make me feel guilty, I have realized that I have to stand up to her...and then she will back down....Someone said that yesterday, that I have to stand up to her now or she will just keep doing this for years to come....

My mother never realized that she was laying the guilt on...Last night when we were talking she said that she was just asking me....and she doesnt remember saying anything else sunday night that would make me think she was laying the guilt on....Amazing what selective memory she has lol...

But everything is fine now...So thats all that matters.

My dad is funny...Last night he says to me, Can I come up stairs and look at the Christmas tree?? So I said yeah of course you can....He said that he likes when they go over to their friends house...He likes the lights and the tree....My dad is so cute lol.
