I was dumfounded. I just looked at the girl who asked for a few seconds to see if she was joking. My facial expression was probably priceless! I'm sure I had that 'look of constipation'.

Re: I was finally asked...
I wasn't really insulted...I just didn't know what the heck to say to that. Of course I responded in my typical smart a*s way, 'No, it's fake.'
I just can't fathom asking someone that question, whether I questioned it's authenticity or not.

I have asked close friends (only) if I could try their rings on- I have had so many people ask me. I could not imagine asking someone if it is real!

Re: I was finally asked...
I was at the food store once and my ring was very sparkly. The cashier ringing me up told her friend to look at my ring but didn't realize I was watching. Then her friend says it's CZ! I was so ****ed but couldn't say anything since she didn't ask me.
People can be sooo rude!

LOL! That is so funny. I was at dinner one night and the waitress said, 'I'm sorry, I have to ask, is that rock real?'
I just laughed, pointed at my FH and said, 'I don't know, ask him'

Re: I was finally asked...
When we told his mom (we told her in person. She lives in PA) she cried then grabbed my hand and looked at it and then looked at FI and said 'you bought this'
We were laughing so hard and didnt take it as rude or anything because we knew his mom was just in so much shock.
Though Friday night a guy friend of my friend the family business is diamonds and he was inspecting my ring and telling me how much it was worth. I told him he better get out of the family business because he is way off track. He said to me 'I think I know what I am talking about' I told him well do you want me to bring you the apprasial information because you are off on your 4 C's and price. He and I just didnt agree and he told me my FI got ripped off. I told him he is lucky my FI isnt here because according to the appraisal form this ring is a custom made ring and that you are way off.
he didnt say much after that.

Too funny! When I first got mine, my FFIL asked to see it. He actually had a loup (sp?) and started examining it. He had no idea what he was talking about. What a weirdo!

Re: I was finally asked...
maybe you should get it checked at another jeweler. I would be freaked out if someone thought it wasn't I use to work at a jewelry store and people use to come into us with their ring, and it wasn't the same diamond they thought they bought.
