I was in the ER all morning and night..,

I had the absolute worse migraine ever in my life. I swore I was dying I couldn't see, hear and I was so disorientated. It was so scary. I never went the the ER before. We went at 3am and got home at 8am.

Does anyone have a good medication for migraines. They gave me a shot of something in the hospital. But I still have a headache. They suggested mortin.

Any advice? TIA

The only thing that has ever worked on my migraines is Imitrex.

As someone who knows all too well about migraines (and has taken myself to the ER a couple times before knowing that they were migraines) , well I truly feel your pain !

Ironically yesterday there were a few different threads here on NWR about migraines, perhaps read through them and they can be of some help to you?

Did they run tests at the hospital? MRI, Catscan, etc? I would highly recommend seeing a neurologist, someone who specialized in HEADACHES (not all neurologists do) and they can best direct you into what course of action to take next. There are quite a few wonderful migraine medications on the market, hopefully one will be successful for you!

Thank you very much! I think imitrax (sp) is the shot they gave me in the hospital. They did do a CT scan and it came back negative. They did tell me to do a follow-up with a neurologist.

Does anyone know of any?

Sorry you don't feel well.....I never actually believed in migranes until I had one---my goodness, I thought I was dying (and I'm a trained medical professional). So, I'm sending

They probably gave you a shot of Torodal in the hospital--your best bet would be to double up on some excederin if they didn't give you a precription to fill. Imitrex also works well.

Hope you feel better soon....good luck. If it continues though, call your PCP and see if you can get a script for PO (oral) Torodal. That might do the trick now and for future migraines.

Knowing what a true migraine feels like, I feel so bad for you! I hope you feel better real soon!!! I take imitrex when I feel one coming on. Any over the counter stuff does not do a thing for me when it is a migraine headache. If you get them alot, maybe you need a type of maintenance medication

I hope you feel better!! I too have had to go to the hospital because of a migraine. Imitrex is amazing. Now, if I feel that I am getting a migraine I take excedrin migraine and it really helps.

UGH, damn ERs. I hate that- they give you a little something to fix things temporarily . . . I am sure you must have a follow-up with your regular Dr. I am sure they will prescribe something

I never had one in my life!!!! They thought it could be stress or it could be too much caffeine but they are not sure
