Just a vent I guess. I'm a teacher. Today I was thinking about what I need to do to start getting ready to go back to work and suddenly I just became really angry. This is not about needing to work on my wedding or just liking summer too much -- I think I'm starting to hate my job. This is my 11th year -- I've invested so much time, money and energy into this career that it wouldn't make sense to start over. I busted my a$$ and got my master's while being a single mom to two kids and commuting to the Bronx 2 hours each way. It was not easy AND I finished with a 4.0. I was not playing -- it was my dream and I made it come true. I'm finally making really decent money. I work so much closer to home now. My kids are more independent and I'm getting married. Life is so much easier -- so why do I feel literally sick to my stomach thinking about work? It's too early for a sabbatical -- maybe I'm just starting to burn out as they say. Damn. Thanks for listening.

Re: I was so mad today
Do you hate the work you do or just work in general? I don't think there is anything wrong with you wanting to change your career either. It happens. I've been in the corporate world for 7 years (and I have my masters too) and I want out. Yes, I spent a lot of time and money on my education, but it's not what I want anymore. If you truly hate what you're doing then you should look into other things.

I think it's the job itself. I know a lot of people hate their jobs but I never thought I would ever feel this way.
I finished the first master's, 30 additional credits for a pay increase and I'm almost done with a second master's in ESL. I've had an incredible amount of training in addition to this. I was a Reading Recovery teacher (intervention specialist) for two years until the funding ran out -- that alone was an insane amount of professional development. I almost feel like I CAN'T walk away.
FH tells me to go back to school but I don't know if I have it in me to be perfectly honest.
