I was talking to my mom...

yesterday with my MH and we were discussing who I should ask to see my wedding gown when I pick one out.

I was thinking my mom, MOH at first ( which we did yesterday) and then come back with FH mom, FH grandma and my grandma...but we were going back and forth.

my mom thinks my dad should come see me in it

who did everyone else have with them?

i went 3 times and every time i only had one person with me. the first time, i had FH's SIL, the second time i had my SIL, and the third time i had FH's sister. i would have had my mom w me but she lives in wisconsin.

i had my mom, nana and sister with me ....there were fathers there with their daughters depends if u want it a surprise or not

I had my mom, one of my sisters and my MOH when I found it. My other sister and my FMIL & FSIL have seen it in person too.

i kinda want to suprise my dad but I dont want to insult my mom bc thats what she did with my grandpa....

ugh...all the issues I would never think of when planning a wedding!

I had my mom, dad, MOH, Jane(fmil) and my moms best friend that is like family to me

I plan on only bringing my MOH (my sis), my mom, my 2 aunts and my grama. Thats it.

Everyone else will have to wait until 6.27.08

I dont think my father has any interest in seeing it. He doesnt want to hear the song I pick or anything until the day of. my mom said its because he doesnt want to cry.

I had my mom, sister and two of her friends (we were supposed to be looking at her BM dresses that day - just so happens we ended up getting my gown that day too)

and then I went back once to show my 3 aunt and one other time to show my 2 best friends.

I asked FMIL if she wanted to come but she had something else to do the day that I asked her so I figure I'll ask her to come again when my actual dress comes it.

and that's it!

I brought my mom and my grandma once. and thats it! I want it to be a surprise to everyone - including my dad.

see I never thought of that until my mom said it...

its funny because i always pictured my dad there and he was the first one i thought of...well of course my mom too but I made sure he would be able to make it. I would've rescheduled it if he couldn't make it...he is the one more into shopping than my mom and he is more emotional...ALthough my mom did get emotional and thats rare to see but it was sweet.

I guess I always pictured me coming down the stairs of my house all dressed up and seeing my dads reaction then.

now that I think of it I think I will wait til 9-6-08...

FOR ME its also alot about sharing the experience...my dad is great and has always been there for me, but we have the same personality and we don't know how to talk normally to eachother, everything we scream at eachother. And now he is so different since I got engaged. He is so happy and excited, and he is a great dad but it was never like I opened up ALOT with him and would go to him to talk about certain things. Now we have that relationship so its great that he can come with me to go dress shopping, and he always talks about the wedding, and were communicating in a normal manner lol...So i am taking advantage of this moment.

So i have my own reasons why.

If you want to wait to see his reaction then i would do that

I took my mom...I didnt want anyone there with a million opinions,,,,I didnt even think of having my dad there.....

I went there for my BM dresses...and I got to try it on again...and my entire Bridal Party saw me...

I dont want FMIL to come i think! She wants to be surprised too

I olny took my mom and my sister with me. It's somehitng special for amother and daughter to do. And It's a tradition for no one to see the bride in her dress before the wedding.

wheni first saw the dress i wanted i was w/ my mom and 2 MB, but i refused to order it until my sister saw it so i went back w/her, my mom again and two more BM. thats it im probably not gonna show anyone else. i feel like ur dad shouldnt see it till the day of ur wedding. it would be a nice surprise for him.

Well thats nice for some and if thats what they want then thats what they should do...i explained above how the wedding brought my dad and me closer together so doing these things with him such as going shopping for my dress helped our relationship...plus it meant ALOT to my dad to ask for his opinion about the dress, to invite him along and to be there for the process...so what works for some doesn't work for others.

Plus my dad made my dress shopping experience different...he has a big personality, he made it fun, the people at kleinfelds loved him, he got me 15% off which would've never happened if he wasn't there...but point is he made it a very fun experience. Plus there was a point where he did see me for the first time trying it on and he got choked up then so he had his moment.
