what do you want to know??
Everything!! Good, bad and otherwise!! My wedding is there on October 30, so I want to know what to watch out for and what I don't need to worry about.
Thanks!!

Re: I went to a wedding at the Thatched Cottage
the wedding was very nice - the room they had it in was the downstairs room - the layout of that room isn't the best to be honest...it really seperates half your party from the other half.
The cocktail hour was very nice - but they ran out of plates - the biggest hit was the finger foods...mini burritos - fried wontons, mini pizza yum yum - also they handed out frozen tropical drinks - yum!!
The service was really great - waiters wait on you hand and foot, and were very nice.
They had an outdoor ceremony - which was so nice - but SOO buggy.
Hmm...what else am I missing?

Re: I went to a wedding at the Thatched Cottage
Thanks!! Hmmmm......what else??
What time of day was it - and was it Sat or Sun?
What kind of flowers did they have?
Was parking a problem??
I do remember thinking that the downstairs room was kind of oddly laid out. I think we are going to put the rowdier crowd in the smaller section (near the bar) and put the rest on the other side.

Re: I went to a wedding at the Thatched Cottage
Jmg11 thank you for your input re: Thatched Cottage!!
I am getting married there THIS SUNDAY
We are having a small reception (not having our ceremony there) and are using the upstairs room .. the downstairs room will be for part of the cocktail hour (in case of rain -- but its NOT going to rain)
I'm also curious about the parking issue. Also how was the service for replenishing drinks etc, since there is no bar , just waiter service?
Was there anything else going on there at the same time (there are only one weddings at a time there, but sometimes they have other types of parties in the other room..)
Glad to hear that overall you liked TC! And thanks for your input!

Re: I went to a wedding at the Thatched Cottage
I'm getting married there next year but still want to know. Was the replenshing of drinks good b/c of the no bar situation? Was the main meal(s) to your liking? Im getting married upstairs and feel that room is much better. Any other details you can remember will be helpful. Thank you so much for your posting.

Re: I went to a wedding at the Thatched Cottage
well the parking wasn't an issue for me, I grew up in Northport (right down the street) so I knew that there would be back up when the cars were being pulled out (since I have seen it time and time again) so we left about 2 minutes before everyone else to beat the rush.
I didn't drink at the wedding (Actually in this room there was a bar) BUT I have to say the staff was always asking if we needed drinks (for me personally I am also not having a bar in my reception room - I think it takes away from people dancing cause they are bundled by the bar - but that is just my opinion)
The main dishes were very good. The fruit and veggies at the cocktail hour were VERY fresh and yummy also. (I already raved about the finger food)
I would have liked to have seen more passed food...but I am not sure if that is standard or something the couple chose to not really do.

Re: I went to a wedding at the Thatched Cottage
it was a friday night by the way - they had some low centerpieces - pretty but not really noticable.
There were no other events going on that I saw.

Re: I went to a wedding at the Thatched Cottage
Was the help wanted sign up? I drive past TC a lot and they have this big Help Wanted sign under the TC sign. I'd hope the'd remove it before the guests start coming.
