I went to a wedding on Sunday...
...at the Westbury Manor. This was the first wedding that I have been to since my engagement, so I was ultra-analyzing EVERYTHING. :) I had never been to the Westbury Manor before. I thought the grounds were beautiful, they even had peacocks walking around! The place was pretty but I have some complaints: The room that the cocktail hour was held in was SOOOOO small, it barely fit 50 people, let alone 150. We were smushed and had no where to sit the whole time. The bartenders sucked and they kept on saying how cheap everyone was, because they weren't getting tipped. (i felt kinda bad for them) The food at the cocktail hour was mediocre. So was the food at the reception. To make matters worse, EVERYTHING (including coffee) was served luke warm, nothing was hot. Yikes. Sorry to sound so cynical. :) The band (Heart and Soul) was awesome. They are super talented and sounded just like the radio versions of the songs. Only bad thing was that they were kind of attention hogs. The flowers were very fresh and pretty. I think the bride used a florist called 'Simple Elegance' or something like that. Well, I hope I helped someone out. :)

That's really tacky about the bartenders complaining - were they that loud? I'd be so embarrassed. My sister got married there a few years ago, and while there were a few minor problems, everything was fine.

Ive been there twice and always thought the food was good. Not spectacular (but really what wedding food is?) they do have some small rooms, so I would think you should be careful when booking what room is on the contract... as for bartenders...I think 90% of catering halls in LI include gratuity and SHOULD NOT being getting tipped. My father was adament about this. He said if it was not included he was going to make sure tips were paid, so guests do not feel obligated. We have already told the hall that he will throw a fit if there is a tip jar on the bar.

I'm actually getting married at the Westbury Manor. Before we signed the contract, we looked at the rooms for the cocktail hour and made sure all of our guest can fit there. I'm surprised that they gave them such a small room. Also, I believe our contract also includes the gratuities. Thanks for letting me know the details, I will remind Westbury Manor not to have that tip jar at the bar.

I got married there 4 months ago and everything was terrific-the food, the room, the service. You'll have beautiful weddings, don't worry:-)

Thanks Cira and Jenn P
Sometimes I'm so sensitive to every little detail and comment. I should try not to look at those things so seriously but hope that things will be great. Thanks again for the reminder that our weddings there will be fine. I feel much better after I read your posts. :) -Kobi

Thanks Kobi and Jenn P
I, too, can be sensitive about this stuff. You want EVERYTHING to be perfect ... but you know what? That day will be perfect no matter what because I will be marrying my best friend, just like Jenn did and just like Kobi will too!!!!! Kobi, how far along are you in the wedding process. My wedding is a month before yours? ;-)

Hi again. I feel bad if I made anyone worry about their upcoming wedding at the Westbury Manor! I just reviewed the wedding so that fellow brides can be aware and work things out NOW so that nothing will go wrong on your wedding day. I am sure that no matter where you are getting married, the day will be magical and perfect!! Melissa

Kobi, We pretty much got everything but the bridesmaid dresses. I just picked out invitations today and I had a makeup trial that I loved! We used a lot of the vendors that were recommended.
