I went to visit CH's this weekend...my thoughts...
Well, many of you have asked me for my thoughts on the CH I visited so here goes. Please do not get offended. They really were all very nice. I didn't visit any that I thought I would not like and visually they were all very appealing!
Please be aware we only got pricing for the holiday Sunday of Labor Day and Memorial Day and we chose 9/1/13…the Sunday before Labor Day. FM me if you want info.
Woodbury Country Club – They were very nice and the place is beautiful. The only option available for my date was in the upstairs room. I think if you have your wedding here then the downstairs room would be key because that’s the only way you get an outside cocktail hour. But that’s just my opinion. The rooms really are very classy and gorgeous and nice windows!! I hate when a place doesn'ty have windows! Beautiful grounds and very well priced too! Our lowest price actually. They did offer a Sunday discount even though it was a holiday.
Crest Hollow Country Club – OK, the outside is gorgeous but I knew when we walked in that it was too big for me. I really did think that I was in a luxury hotel. IT”S HUGE!! The outdoors is gorgeous and the pool is amazing. You get half of the outdoor space for cocktail hour but there is a charge for an outdoor cocktail hour…one that I wasn’t too keen on paying since Woodbury doesn’t charge for that. But it is gorgeous and very South Beach feel! They even ride you and the bridal party around on a golf cart for different picture spots because the place is so big. Didn’t really love the people playing tennis but I am having an evening wedding so it doesn’t matter and they really weren’t in view so it does not matter much. When I walked into dining rooms I was turned off…just not my style. Not ugly at all but not amazing to me at all. Outdoors though was awesome and the guy we spoke with was very, very funny! Nice place and very stylish and nice – just not for us. 3 weddings going on at a time and I did not see anyone really. You wouldn’t really know so many people were there but it was big and I did get lost once. Middle price range of what we got. We did get Sunday pricing but because it was a holiday they did $5 more per person.
Venetian Yacht Club – I wish that they would paint the front column. That’s my only complaint! She did say they paint often though. I saw a crack in the paint and like brownish stain but I can understand because of the salt water but she said they paint like every 6 months so not a big issue. I would have painted it myself if they didn’t. LOL THE VIEW IS AMAZING!!!!! Ok, so I walked in downstairs and saw the view and the room was nice. It is for a 150 wedding. But when you go upstairs for a 175 wedding…WOW!! That room is awesome. Gorgeous. Beautiful!!!! THE ONLY REASON I DIDN’T BOOK WAS THEY DIDN’T HAVE MY DATE! Or I would have taken it in a minute. They gave me Saturday pricing because they didn’t have Sunday holiday and FH would not do a twilight Sunday because he’s hard headed! The food options were good and she did throw in quite a few things at no charge. Her name is Daisy and she’s really very nice. Man, that view will stay in my mind for a long time. If you have a wedding there please send me some pics!! Gorgeous and you get to have your guests go outside! Oh and if you have 175 guests or over the coolest thing is is that the downstairs gorgeous dining room becomes your Cocktail Hour room…no cocktail hour room looks like that! Guests will be impressed for sure!!
Jericho Terrace – Um, well the lobby was nice and the water feature very cool. The guy sat us down in the office and pretty much asked me my budget and only spoke money and told me he will not have a Saturday or Sunday with the extras the other places gave me. UM HELLO…My budget is $30,000!!! Really? I don’t know if he had PMS or what but I know damn well that JT is not that costly. Then he goeson to tell me that the skylight room I want is going to be demolished and will look like the Penthouse room but to book anyway. Um, book without seeing a room? No thanks. He didn’t show us around AT ALL! Now I know there are many JT brides on here…this place upset me a lot. I wanted to see JT more than any place but as soon as he started pricing us it annoyed me. And get this…the final price he showed me was $26k…so still in my budget but it’s like he didn’t want to deal with us. Maybe because events were going on? But they told us to come in when I called. I don’t know. The place is gorgeous and I heard the food is great but I honestly cannot give an opinion because the man obviously was having a bad day!
Floral Terrace – So FH did NOT want to even go here. He said Floral Park? Are you crazy? Meanwhile the guy is from Queens! So we see the building and park near the valet and go in. Well, the lobby is very, very nice with an amazing floral arrangement and I loved it because it was just ivory! No crazy colors and my colors are ivory and blue. So then we see a security/bellhop man? About 80 years old (not kidding) Not sure and I explain I want to see the place. He said “SO, YOU’RE GETTING MARRIED???” (pretty loud) and I said “Yes…” and he says “YOU’VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE!!!” and puts his arms up. Me and FH laugh our butts off because he was so funny and cute. So we meet with the BM and he doesn’t talk pricing…sees if our dates are available and we go see the place. Hospitality hour on first floor, very big cocktail room on second floor and grand ballroom on third. He showed us the bridal suite which is 3 rooms in a suite! HUGE!!! Loved it. Then I walked into the ballroom. So different from anything I have ever seen because the room used to be a theater. Dome shaped and a separate elevated dance floor. I loved the feel and the uplighting is amazing and included! So by now I am nervous because it is a one event at a time place, looks amazing and the menu…there is nothing else that I can possible add on…I really added on EVERYTHING! Full seafood with lobster, snow crab, king crab, shrimp, oysters. A Caviar/vodka station, A greek station, pasta station, sushi station, Chinese station, French crepe station, suckling pig station, Italian station, hot chafing dish station…I mean really? It was insane..oh and full Viennese Hour. Do I feel lucky? Yeah, pretty lucky and it was the second lowest quote I got. And in 2 weeks is my tasting with our parents. They sit us in a private room and bring in the food they are serving to the wedding that night. So we try real wedding food they make. The man I spoke to is Frank and he is not loud, not arrogant and really just an amazingly nice guy. Did I tell you they don’t charge a 20% service fee?????? Nope, I am not lying!!
