i will be married in 4 days---should i get ready at home or the garden city hotel??

hi ladies!
I can't wait to be an official member of this board--you guys have the most fun.

I am debating what i should do-- my house is a wreck and ppl are starting to come into town and all of my wedding tasks aren't complete. I don't have time to clean myself or put up new curtains (since my windows have none). Do you think i should suck it up and get ready and take pics @ home or just go to the gch, get ready and take pics there???

I know this sounds weird but there was another bride who had the same prob- I think she took pics in the parking lot at Roosevelt Field mall!

We all thought it was crazy but the pics came out great- they were on top of the parking garage

well #1, do you think you'd regret it later if you got ready at the hotel? not sure if its your parents house or your place and if you have any nostalgic connection to the place? anywhoo, it sounds as if you kind of have your mind made up to get ready at the GCH- and you're pretty much the only person who can wholeheartedly make that decision. if you have 2nd thoughts and you want to get ready at home borrow some curtains if you have to, slap 'em up and get someone to come over and help clean! (like FH lol!!!!). enjoy these next few days as crazy & hectic as they'll be!!

the hotel could be nice & relaxing but it is nice to get ready at home because everything is already there & it is nice to see pictures later of you & the family getting ready in a familiar place even if it is a mess & it can be a little crazy that day with everyone there.

I'm torn. Part of me says get ready at the hotel because it is relaxing and the GCH is gorgeous for pics. The other part says home might be more relaxing because you don't have to worry about forgetting anything when you go to the hotel. I know me and I am nuts with making lists. I create about 5 different lists to make sure I don't forget anything.

Hmm depends, if you can check into the hotel early enough to get ready there, then by all means do it and treat yourself like a princess that day!

I am in the same boat.....My moms house is so small.....I was thinking about getting ready at the hotel FH I will be staying at that night then go to my moms to take pics out side....i am not sure b/c my mom wants to take get ready at her house too! I am sure I will do what she wants to make her happy! I would ask how everyone felt about getting ready at hotel then see if limo can take you to your house to take pics outside!

my house will be a worse than the mall during christmas shopping on weeks (notice i said weeks) leading up the wedding.. so the night before, we all will be going to a hotel nearby.. it's literally impossible to get ready with people buzzing all over w/ their drama and screaming at their kids to shower and get ready..

so this way.. everyone's drama will contained within the 4 walls of their room and i can begin to get ready in peace and wear my outfit at the RH (since i'm getting married at the RH)

I would hire a cleaning company and take pics at home. Let them know what to work on I am sure the will hang new curtains for you, and do things you can't deal with right now.

I would definitely take pictures at the Garden City Hotel. It would put less stress on your family and you. On top of it, the GCH is gorgeous inside and out. Best of luck to you this weekend. I hope your wedding is perfect!
