Ideal weight?
Example, if you enter in height and age will it give you rough ideas of idea weight?

I think I am within my range but wonder.

Im STUCK at 137. Two weeks, good eating and lots of excerise and not an OUNCE less. Im not 'unhealthy' and if you've seen me, you'll know Im a fairly small size 10. So I wonder. Am I just my ideal weight?

Anyone know if such a scale exists?

I don't think there's a scale or a textbook out there that can tell you this information. This is one of those things that will vary greatly by person. The only thing I think you'll find is a range of what might be ideal for someone with your height, for your age. But, there are too many other variables of your health and genetic make up that can determine what your individual 'ideal' body weight might be. JMO.

If you feel great, and like the way you look, I think you should not feel badly about what number the scale says.

I was looking only for a range.
you know.. between 100-145

Well 3 weeks now.. and not an ounce up or down.

What are you doing for exercise, how often and for how long?

Also, is your calorie intake much lower than three weeks ago?

Work out: I go to PT for a knee injury.
Twice a week.. about an hour in all
Stretching first
Then here's the routine (rotates A&B since its twice a week)

A) Resistance training (walking while being pulled back), Weight machines, two reps on each machine and then 20 minutes on that eclipitical thingy (Im no slouch at that.. I always push myself, I actually like a good workout) Then uhmm flexibility excercises, then ice.

B) Extensive flexibility and agility excercises. (boards and balancing, hopping and jumping, slow lifts and such) LOTS Of jumping and hopping!! I can SEE the other people in the gym staring at me opening in either pity or wondering what the hell they are putting me through! Then resistance training and then the bike for 20 mins (again.. I like sort of stuff so i usually push for 7 and half miles regardless of time - I still have it under 20) Then Ice.

Needless to say this wears me out!

Then the other three nights a week I have an elastic band I use to do simple resistance work at home. ankle and thighs mostly Targeting the hip, outter thighs and calfs. This takes like 20 mins.. I usually do it while I catch up with Jim's day.. so Im distracted.

Then on the weekends we plan 2 hour walking events. Such as finding a new mall and just literally walking for 2 hours. I figure that's about fair since you know I stop to look every now and then. NO SITTING DOWN! No breaks!

One day rest.

FOOD:
I have issues with high fat content foods so I stay away. I haven't really CHANGED my diet. I just watch it more.

I have been eating smaller portions, drinking less soda and more clear fluids, juices and water. I think before I choose lunch going for the fish dish instead of pizza. I love veggies and my snacks have changed from cookies to yogurt.

I think that about wraps it up.

Usually when you start to exercise you will lose weight but gain muscle mass. So even though you are slimming down, you wont see the results on your scale, you will see the difference in how your clothes fit. So that might be why the scale is still telling you the same number.

Weight loss takes more time than two weeks. Don't give up you good habits just because you haven't seen results yet. You will.

Good luck.

Well this is week four for weighing in.. I check tonight after PT.

But people keep SAYING I look like i've lost weight. So I know Im toning down. God knows I can FEEL the burn in my butt and back thighs right now.

Keep in mind that when you lift weight(even resistance training) you are building/toning muscle and that weighs more than fat. Since I lift weights, I don't weigh myself but measure my inches.

Be careful with the fruit juice intake - it can easily add 500 calories/day at least! I have give up the fruit juice & substituted Wyler's Iced Tea (5 cals/serving) and Fruit H2o which has 0 cals. Good luck! sounds like you are doing great.

my own basic scale:

100 pounds for the first 5 feet...then 5-6 pounds for each inch over

that makes my range 135-142 - exactly where I want to be...and twhen I was that weight - I thought I looked great!!!

Re: I wonder, is there a scale that shows (my workout routine now updated) UPDATED 2: the scale moved!

I weighed myself yesterday (missed the week before) and I lost a half pound HAHAHA

Im 134.5

so 100 for 5 feet
5-6lbs every inc.

EWWWWWW

Im like 5.3 on a good day (hehe)
So I should be around 115-120??? I'd be happy at 130!

When I moved to NYC 4 years ago. I was 117. Honestly.. I saw pictures of myself back then.. I was bony. I'd be happy maybe at 125 but that's pushing it.

for me that would mean I have to gain 15 pounds! of course, I know that is within what 'they' say for my height (5'9') but I have a really small frame and I hate the way I feel when I weigh more than 135. But that's just me (and I'm also talking pounds in fat, not muscle - I'd be happy to be 145 in muscle!). And I'm a little nuts so that probably adds to it.
