A friend of mine really wants an Ice Cream Wedding cake but she has no clue where to begin. Does anyone have any suggestions on bakeries or knows someone who had one? TIA!

Re: Ice Cream Wedding Cake
Getting married at a vineyard and another bride on here, who is getting married right next door, is using a local ice cream shop for her cake, so I decided to try to do it for mine.
I think the key is to keep it local, have them be able to deliver 10 minutes before you intend to do your cutting ceremony.
Have them precut your slices so your not struggling with frozen ice cream at the cake cutting.
I don't know if the chain shops will be as willing as the local ones.
I honesty have the least confidence about this ice cream cake, so I splurged on Viennese Dessert to make sure I have some really good dessert in case the cake flops.

Re: Ice Cream Wedding Cake
I had thought of the idea and my sister would have been able to make it, however a few points were brought to my attention that had to be considered:
1. I am getting married in August so I had to ensure it could have been safely traveled to the venue if excessive heat?
2. Can the venue store the cake frozen until a little before the cake cutting ceremony? it would need to be kept cold and given a little time to thaw before serving.
3. Since you would need a vendor, If the venue can't store it, can the company making it have it delivered at like 10pm (if you are having a late night wedding)
4. The cake cannot be displayed One Idea was to do the 'dummy' cake where there is an ice cream cake to serve that is kept in back but theis on display would be fake with a small ice cream cake top for the cake cutting ceremony.
I'm still debating on the ice cream cake part. Good luck with this idea though, I hope you can do it.

Re: Ice Cream Wedding Cake
I would try Coyle's. They have a location in East Islip and somewhere else on the island. Best Ice Cream Cake I've ever had. Banana split with all different flavors. Soooo good!
