I'd like you to meet a saint...

I'd like you to meet a saint...

my mother.

We invited my 'real' dad to the reception thinking there's no way he'll come but we should be polite anways. He's been a real douchebag to me and hardly been a part of my life... but at the same time he's really sweet guy who just can't get his shitt together.

He's an alcoholic and is in super bad shape, Ive posted on here before how he was in the hospital last year for like the 10th time in my life where we didn't quite know if he'd make it.

He's the sort of alcoholic where if you look at him, you know he is... KWIM?

Well... since the wedding was last weekend he started calling me a bunch, crying because he was so sad he isn't a part of my life and how he wishes he could be there.... 'But I'm coming to the reception! Absolutely. I would never miss it'

... yeah, right.

Well I told everyone this weekend... if it gets to be a few weeks before the reception and he still says he's coming... I need someone to put the man together. i.e. Take him to make sure his hair is clean and cut and get him some decent clothes.

I told my grandparents 'I will give you some money, take him to the store and put him in slacks and a shirt and tie.'

Well mom just called and said that if he still says he's coming the week before she's going to take him out and get him clothes.

What ex-wife does that?

Seriously?

The woman has her faults but... my mother is a saint.

That's very nice of your mother to do. People have more flaws then others but I guess she realizes that he's still the father of her child.

That's awesome in the true sense of the word.

Too often we read on here how divorced parents act like jerks during the wedding process.

Good for your mom for putting her own feelings aside and taking care of business.

I hope he pulls through with his promise.
