Ideal Month(s)

assuming that you have no problems TTC, a healthy pregnancy and baby, what month(s) and why would you like to have a baby?

MY IDEAL MONTHS
march, april or may

WHY?

- not fat and uncomfortably pregnant in the summer months (can hide underneath baggy clothes in the winter or just hypernate)

- baby is old enough to take outside the 1st summer

- sitting or crawling by 1st x-mas

- (hopefully) walking and enjoying the beach the 2nd summer

- among one of the older students in his/her grade

Re: Ideal Month(s)

October for one reason only....

I get my tenure in Sept., I can set up my classroom the way I want it, get the kids into a routine that is mine and then go out on maternity and come back after Christmas break.

I just would rather have my class used to my routines then me coming back to my class and having to get used to the leave replacement's routines and set up. I also want them to know I'm their teacher. This way the leave replacement can teach with me for a week before I go out so the kids can get to know us both. I teach kindergarten so they are sensitive to routine changes.

I just think it would be best for all this way.

And I don't want to give birth in the summer- This way I can get my house in order before the baby comes.

I will take anytime though!

I gave birth in May to my first one (not planned that way, it just happened) and we are definitely going to try, God-willing, for the second one to be born in April or May for the exact same reasons you posted.

My baby is due in June and I teach. I planned it this way so I could finish the rest of the year and leave with one month left.

I used to want get pg in Sept. or Oct. so I wouldn't be pg for those hot summer months but now I think I prefer Jan. or Feb. so I can give birth in Sept or oct and be out on Maternity leave for the holidays. I work in a hospital so working the holidays is mandatory. It would be a great way to get out of it!

I had the same ideal months as you...
For me it was a combonation of work and not being pregnant in the summer. Giving myself some time to get back into shape before beach weather.

I had my son in October and it was GREAT because I had off for the holidays. I am going back to work this month

The only months I would NOT want to have a baby is November/December because of the holidays...

Re: Ideal Month(s)

I wanted September b/c I just feel it is a great month. We got married that month. I wanted to avoid the summer months to give birth (especially August) for two reasons.

1) Drs seem to be away those months on vacation and I did not want to go into labor and have the dr be MIA

2) I always felt that it was lonely having a summer birthday. In school, there was always the 'summer kids birthday' day and all the kids would be lumped together while the school birthday kids got individual days. I also would not get to spend my babys birthday with him/her as he/she would probably be in camp. My poor sister was born August 4th and always had a raw deal in her opinion. JMO.

Anytime from May to September, which doesn't look like its happening in 2005

Just because for once in my life I would like to have the summer off to enjoy my life and a new baby.

Believe me its a lot harder than it looks.

Skew I like your thinking! We are not TTC, just thinking about it, but I would like your timing, esp. about being hot and uncomfortable in the summer.

Re: Ideal Month(s)

Yes, I'm going back. I never thought I'd get pregnant on the first try and I wanted an October baby so I could at least meet my students and get them settled, etc. before I left. Anyway, so I tried a month early since I knew the chances would be against it happening the first time--well, I guess I'd better not make anymore bets!! Hoping not to go back until after Christmas break next year.
