IDEAS
My fiance and I have decided NOT to have a wedding reception. We really want to run away to be married but are forced to get married locally on Long Island.
Does anyone have any ideas on what we can do for just the ceremony? Thanks!!

How about having a small brunch ceremony and then heading right off to your honeymoon. You can go to the Watermill in Smithtown. Maybe you can have just close friends and family attend, have a ceremony, a nice brunch and then head off.
We are getting married at a park around the corner from my parents house in a gazebo, then a dinner with just my FI immediate family and mine.. we are having a big reception later..
thats a VERY NICE idea. what is the name of the park? What town?
What We were thinking Central Park in NYC but its soooo big and I think it might be a hassle for folks to get there/parking.
is a nice way to keep it simple, yet you still have the toast and the cake cutting!!!
Rath Park in franklin square.. email me if you need any info or numbers to get permission [email protected]
would i have to have this at a reception hall? Do they offer this? How would I arrange this at a park or beach?
Sorry for all the questions, I've just never heard of this or been to one. THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL THE IDEAS. This really helps.
I was thinking, just at the place where you get married...does the church or temple have a 'reception' room...or at your or a family members home?
well since we dont have a place picked yet, I dont know if there will be a 'reception' room available. I really like the idea of having the ceremony outdoor in a beautiful garden or perhaps on the beach by the ocean.
Keep the great ideas coming!
I push this on everyone...(I think b/c I am upset I didn't know about it when I started planning) Venderbilt Planetarium in Cneterport is available for ceremonies...I'm sure there are options for a small cake reception as well (they have large ones as well)
you may also want to try...the pavillion at sunken meadow beach...
the restaurant at jones beach...
a nice restaurant on the water...
montauk point (you can have the ceremony at the lighthouse)...and other restaurants on the east end...
I'll keep thinking...
