Ideas for card/gift holder

Help! I need ideas for what to use to hold the gifts/cards during the reception. The cake shaped holder and mailbox are not my style. Was thinking about using a wicker picnic basket and tying on white tulle, ribbons, etc...What do you think? Any other suggestions? (I was planning on having my brother in law keep the basket underneath my family's table during the reception.)

I think the basket idea is wonderful. Another idea I have seen (and will probably be using) is the white bird cage. You can decorate this anyway you want and it looks nice on a table next to you and/or the cake.
