I want to have a firemans theme for my wedding. I would love ANY suggestions. heres are some things Im thinking of so far. Add and comment please :) Thanks!!!
#1 bridesmaids dress - red (My bridesmaids all have different body figures so I am going to pick a manufacturer, color, length and fabric and let them pick their own dree that fits them best) #2 flowers - I wanted red, orange and yello - VIBRANT - I like cana lillies, tiger lillies, iris, and tulips... #3 cake - plain white cake with yellow, red and orange flame like flowers (maybe iris) all over it with the cake topper of the bride dragging a fireman (Ill try to attach it... or a bride on top with the groom at the bottom in a firetruck with the ladder extended. #4 Table centerpieces - silk rose petals red orange yellow, either a silver frame with black and white photos of my fiance and I growing up.... Each table a different age...a and/or a firetruck filled with hersheys kisses with a sign saying 'kisses from the bride and groom' #5 garter - its patriotic, red white and blue (something new and blue) and it has a firemans medallion on it... #6 - Ice sculpture - flaming hearts (Ice sculpture with a red light below it)
Any other ides you have I would LOVE to hear... I will try to attach pics of the types of dresses I want to try on if it will let me... Have to figure out the resizer :)

i know that with the police dept you can request that a car or truck from your precinct be at that church maybe you can get a fire truck to come so you can take pictures there.
i like the frames with pictures of you and fh but not as centerpieces perhaps on the placecard table or guest book table or even cake table.
maybe a fireman hat cake as a grooms cake
on ebay they have a lot of garters for firefighters weddings thats where i bought my garter with a police car on it.
a bag piper is a nice touch
i would do some sort of firetruck favor you can prob even get a toy one that lights up at toys r us
favor ideas
you can donate money to the burn center or the widows and orphans fund.
you can give away little st florian medals he is the patron st of firefighters

Thats where I got my cousins cake topper and where I was going to get mine...
I cant get a firetruck from his firehouse because he works in lower Manhattan and Im thinking our reception etc will be in Suffolk...

REALLY!?!? Did you do this? FH is a cop (NYPD) and I would LOVE that!!!! Seeing as we met in the police academy!!

I am a cop (italian) and I would LOVE to have a surprise bagpiper at our wedding!! It would be more a traditional police department thing to do rather than an irish tradition for me. I didn't want to incorporate too many 'cop' things into our wedding because for that day--I want to be as girly as I can.....BUT, I think your FH would be extremely surprised and happy if you could find a piper for the day.
My FH is a paramedic and there are quite a few cute cake toppers out there for those of us in civil service, just have to do a google search for it.
If you speak with your CO of your command, he/she may be able to arrange a car to come to the ceremony and/or reception--just have to ask in advance and be in good with him. My CO allowed me to take cars to my Uncle's funeral from the Bronx out to LI back in March (on St. Patty's Day--he was retired ESU).....so, I'm sure if I wanted, we could have a car or two at the reception (but I definitely don't want that).

you can also check out this link for individualized cake toppers----you can get your FH in his turnout gear (kinda cool--but expensive)

my dhs best friend is in esu and they had truck one which is his truck at the wedding. dh actually had a police escourt to the church it made very cool video. i dont think that bag pipes are only for irish people i have been to lots of weddings that they were there and the people werent irish

As long as his firehouse are a real good bunch of guys, you should definately be able to get a firetruck. My fiance is a volunteer and that is what we are doing. after the ceremony we are getting 2 trucks from his company and raising the ladder's and the hoses to spray water. hopefully we won't get wet. another guy from his firehouse did it and it was one beautiful scene.

That'd be cool!! Well, I talked to FH about having a car at the church (only) for pics and he said no. I told him 'I knew you'd say no, but thought I'd ask anyway. I just thought it'd be cool b/c we met in the police academy' He then said 'Well if you want it then we'll do it'

My DH is a firefighter/paramedic. This is the cake I got him for our RH dinner. I had it customized with his engine company.
Since most of our GM were also firefighters (his partner and some guys from his shift) we got them gifts from www.libertyartworks.com

My FH is a fireman, and he will be arriving at the church on the Ladder Fire truck our video guy is going to capture him arriving. I think all your idea's are great. I am also surprising him with bag pipe at the church.

No he is a NYC fireman in lower Manhattan (South Street) Theres no way we could get a truck from them...
The cakes I had seen before but do you know how much they wanted for shipping!! I think it said between $200 and $400 LOL Im going to bring the pic around though to see how much w/o shipping. Thanks for all the great ideas girls!!

Heres a pic of my LITTLE fireman!
I'm so happy, he's now going to have a real dad!!! He loves the firetrucks and everything!! Things couldn't of worked out better!
