ideas for inexpensive honeymoons

HI everyone -
It has been months since I have been on so I hope everyone is doing well and that your plans are going smoothly. I need some ideas for really nice but inexpensive honeymoons!! I spoke to my sis and she said she spent about $6,000.00 on her honeymoon. A friend at work said he spent about 10-15,000!!! Am I being a cheapo? I keep telling myself this is a once in a lifetime thing but I was really thinking I could have a nice honeymoon for about 5,000 or under!! Am I crazy? We are torn between someplace tropical or Europe...so really....we have no idea!! HELP!

We were on a serious budget for our honeymoon- Cancun is VERY affordable! Go with an all inclusive and you're set!

I would love if I could do a once in a lifetime honeymoon. We REALLY want to go to Europe but there is no way $$$ we can do that.
Unfortunately we want to get away but need to keep it under the $5000 mark. We're really leaning towards a cruise at this time.
You do what you want and what you can. No matter what, it will be your 1st get away with your hubby so it will be wonderful!

we're spending 10 days in athens, crete, and santorini for $4k (flights and hotel, but before food).

We booked using tripadvisor.com.... 5k is a totally reasonable amount for a gorgeous vacation!

US Virgin Islands. It's pretty there and decent priced

What about Montego Bay in Jamaica? It's not one of the more expensive islands, and IMO is a little less rowdy than Cancun. (I've been to both). Get an All-Inclusive package and you don't have to do anything but enjoy the beach!

I think $5000 is a perfect price for either a tropical place or Europe. I spent over $13K on my HM because of the rm I had...
But, if you with an all inclusive like Sandals, you can get a nice room for that amunt [depending on how long u stay for]
Or if you chose Mexico, thats nice to. Theres a place in Mexico called Secrets, their all inclusive their like a Sandals...
However if you're looking at Hawaii, it will be more expnesive than $5000.

Just quickly looked up a quote on the Sandals website and to go to their location in St. Lucia for a week with airfare ranges from $3640 to $11,602.50 for the William Jefferson Clinton suite. So still not close to OVER 13K.

But back to the OP question. You can eaisly go on an AI HM for 5K.

Here's the sandals link. See for yourself.

I second that!!! We are doing that and we got a balcony room for 2600. It sails to the bahamas and if there is a hurricane it will trave up to canada.

What about an AI like Sandals? They can be very reasonable or expensive it all depends on you. But if everything is included.... no hidden costs.

If you want to do affordable AI and do not like the look of sandals (bright colors and stuff) Try out the RIU resorts. They are all inclusive and are popping up everywhere. They tend to have more than 5 restaurants on site and are alawys attached to two other hotels that you can visit their restaurants with AI also.

Some Sandals are beautiful but Riu is so classy looking with marble floors and all

Try to get a decent price to fly to Hawaii then take a cruise from there. Its all inclusive and you can get last minute deals for under 900 pp at least. NCL cruise lines. You can go to a bunch of islands

If someone were asking me how to stay within a certain budget, I would not feel the need to tell them if I spent a lot more than the amount that they have in mind. Back to the original question--call a travel agent and you will get a ton of ideas. They will not have a difficult time finding you a great trip for what you want to spend.
