I like jack and jill showers also but my fh was against it

I love buffet brunch showers!!! everyone loves bagels, muffins, pancakes juice etc. and since its buffet people are up and moving around instead of sitting there staring at you.

What about a themed shower. I did a luau for my mother when she got married. Since she was moving across the country too, we made it a shower/going away party so whole families could come. We picked the idea because that is where they got engaged.

for my shower- we are doing high tea..

Other cool ideas.. jewelry or pottery making workshops. A cooking lesson where you prepare the meal (although can be on the long side), a day at the spa, etc.

Another theme- my SIL had this.. everyone showed up (this was at someone's house) wearign the ugliest BM dress they had. The hostess took a polaroid of each person as they came in- and added them to a guest book of sorts. It looked like a lot of fun-- you can kinda like make fun of all the traditional wedding stuff with a lot of tounge in cheek activities.

I don't want a traditional shower either. We are thinking about maybe having a wine tasting at a bar or restaurant to make it a little more interactive.

I like the pottery making idea too. In my old neighborhood in DC, there was a paint-your-own pottery place that allowed parties and you could bring in food and beverages. For showers, everyone would take turns decorating a big plate or platter so the bride would have a keepsake (this was in addition to painting their own piece). I bet the pottery stores on LI offer this too.
