Identity with John Cusack *Do NOT read if you haven't seen it yet*
Can someone PLEASE explain this movie to me. I watched it this weekend with DH and I got it but it din't make sense. So, the little kid commited all the murders but it was really a character of the fat guy? So, how did he commit the crimes, as the little boy or as the fat man??

Apparently the fat man committed everything, he was insane and schizo..he created all the characters in his head supposedly.
Im not good with movies like that though! LOL

I saw this movie and loved it even though I didn't completely get it. I THINK, the fat guy committed all the murders as he is and the child was just one of his personalities. I'd be happy to hear anyone else's opinions too.

In reality the fat guy committed them since the fat guy WAS all those characters. He had split personality and made up all these characters in his head.

That was one of those movies you had shaking your head in total confusion. I needed to watch it more than once to fully understand it!

I know, BUT in the end when the little boy kills the last one, was it the fat guy (since he was in capture) or the little kid???

The fat guy b/c the little boy was a personality the fat guy created in his head (he wasn't real). While the fat guy was in the room with all the doctors and the cops, they were helping him kill off the personalities, so he could be normal again. However, they had thought that the little boy personality had been killed in the explosion. But he hadn't been. And in reality, he was the evil personality, not the others.

BUT, the fat guy was in the car when the 'little boy' was killing off the girl in the orange groves. If he was in the car and the little boy was a personality, who/what actually killed the gilr???

every thing that happened in the movie was in the fat guys head. he had multiple personality disorder. the little boy was him and was the evil part of him. at the end, when he kills the guards in the van, it was the little boy persona coming through.

I tought that last scene in the orange grove was a memory. The fat guy,.....(hey does this poor guy have a name??) really killed the woman but in his mind it was the little boy personality, so that's why he could watch. WOW, I have to watch it again now!

The Fat guy's evil personality of the boy killed the girl (the last personality) in his head. All of that happened in the fat guys head. When you see him in the car with the cop you see him struggle with his 'inner demons'. Once the last innocent is dead in his mind, then the bad and ONLY personality left (the little boy) takes completely over and kills the cop.
I loved this movie. hehe I love good mind twists. We totally got it after the first watch.

Got it! Thanks.
But not all the murders happened in his head. They were actually murdered 4 years prior, correct?

I got the twist but I have to see it again because now I'm a bit confused!
I think we'll PPV it on New Year's Day.

I loved this movie. Like Xelindra said, all of the murders that we saw were in his head, as were all the personalities. The fat guy was in jail and had been convicted for string of murders that happened a few years earlier. The psychiatrist discovered the multiple personalities and wanted him committed to a mental insitution. He also felt that if he could get rid of the personality that was a murderer, the fat guy would no longer be dangerous. The fat guy tried to take control of his personalities by killing off the murderer that he suspected but he was wrong. The 'murdering' personality was the little boy. Once the little boy personality murdered the woman, that brought back those violent urges and made caused the fat guy to kill the psychiatrist and the guard.
