If a house is in foreclosure how do I find out how to buy it?
They came and boarded it all up. Now how do I find out how much or how to buy it?

You need to find the lender/owner. I believe you can go to the civil records/deeds to find out.
Then you will call the lender and ask if it is in foreclosure. If so, what is the amount owed, where/when is the auction, etc....
I never did foreclosure in NY so I am not sure of the rules. Maybe you can post on the BHB for more exposure and advise.

I know what they were trying to sell it for. They moved out of the house and havent been seen.
I believe it went to preforeclosure 2 days ago.. I guess Ill have to try and get their phone #.
So do I go to the town hall or something?

try calling the town maybe??? do it asap though! foreclosures go fast if they are at good price!

You can call a foreclosure law firm. I used to work for one. FM for the name.

I work for a foreclosure law firm.
Check the newspapers the Notice of Sale should be in them in the legal postings section.
The number and name of the law firm will be in the Notice of Sale and also the judgment amount which is a pretty good amount to go from.

make sure you get an engineers report on it!!! I've heard many a story from the mtg dept at my work about people buying foreeclosures and finding that the company that foreclosed it just patched up any probs and there were many issues afterwards....i don't wnat you to have any issues! good luck though!!!! enjoy!!!
