if a wedding gets canceled...

if a wedding gets canceled...

Does the bride usually reimburse the bridesmaids the cost of their dresses?

I don't know what the etiquette is on this, but I would like to think that she would.

Maybe not right away as there may be a million other things on her mind then to think about the BM dresses but I would like to think at somepoint she would.

Hmmm...I personally would if that (God for bid) happened to me. I am sure they will understand If I didnt reimburse right away, since I would of lost a ton on $$$. Is this happening to someone you know?

I think it would depend on the situation....

I'm sure the bride would want to, but after spending all that money and canceling, it may not be an option...

My best friend was in a wedding that got cancelled and the bride offered to reimburse her but she didnt take the money- the bride was already out thousands and she didnt want to do that- but I guess its up to the individuals.

it may... she asked me what she would have to do and I didn't know what to tell her...

depends on the situation...I think I would, If I was the one cancelling the wedding! It's not their fault the bride cancelled. I think I would! But then again it all depends on the situation!

God forbid it happened for someone I was BM for, I honestly don't think I would even accept the money from the bride. As the bride though, I would probably offer to reimburse the BM.

ya I'd feel weird taking the money, but had I been the bride I think it would be proper to offer to pay. Especially if its like a dress over $175 and couldnt be worn again.

Yeah, she should probably offer, even though I don't think I would ever take the money as a BM.

I'm so sorry you have a friend going through that

I think it would be nice to offer. But if the BMs are good friends and stuff they probablly wouldnt accept the offer unless they were really in a bind for the money.
I dont know.. thats what I would think

My sister was in one that got canceled - even after they got the alterations. The MOB offered to reimburse the cost of the dresses, shower, etc.

I think that the bride should offer to pay the party back, however, if I was really good friends with the person and they were totaly heartbroken I would not ask for the money.

I was supposed to be in a wedding and the bride canceled a weeek before the wedding and called and said she owed me money for the dress, etc. I said 'are you out of your mind, you have enough to worry about, don't worry about the money for the dress'. I couldn't even imagine having just canceled your wedding and then worrying about paying everyone back.

I hope your friend doesn't have to cancel.

I think that it would be the right thing to do, although costly.

Exactly...as the bride, I think it would be a nice gesture to at least make the offer. But, as a BM, I would feel bad to accept the money.

If it were me and I had the funds, I would reimburse. Unfortunately by the time you pay everything off there usually isn't much left over.

Personally I have been wrestling with this in my own mind.. I want to offer to reimburse my girls if we cancel but then again if we cancel we don't get a dime back and I don't have the money to reimburse right now.. I have been trying to think of a way to offer but let them know that I can't give it to them right away.. and in all honesty I would only have to pay for my MOH and my Jr BM because I paid for my BM's dress and shoes (her husband was laid off for the summer) and she was going to pay me back. Anyway it is a TOUGH thing to have to figure out especially when you don't have the cash up front to say here you go sorry...
