IF ANY DOG OWNERS ARE ON HERE NOW, CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME??
My husband was just grooming our puppy and slipped and cut her...unfortunately it was down in her nether regions, and we think he may have actually sliced her privates! She SEEMS ok but is bleeding. It's not a TON of blood, but it won't stop. We have a steptic that we put on her feet when we clip her nails, but we are afraid that putting something like that down there would sting her. Our vet closed at noon and we don't know what to do! Can anyone help??

can you find an emergancy vet service to call in your area? In a pinch they are great at telling you over the phone what to do and if your pup needs to be seen. Call info. for a number. Does he seem to be in pain?

We tried them once before and they didn't seem to want to give us info over the phone, they wanted us to come in and charged us $100 just for the visit to tell us what was wrong.
Puppy doesn't seem to be in pain. But it's hard to tell.
And to top this all off, we're supposed to leave for my friend's wedding in less than a hour!

I think we are going to try calling the emergency # again, just to see if they will help this time. The bleeding seems to be stopping, so that's a good sign...

Call the emergency hospital in Bayshore or west Babylon. I have taken my kitty there a couple of times. I just called them the other day and they were pretty helpful over the phone. Their number is 631-587-0800

There is a place in westbury that is open 24 hours a day and they are specialists too.
The Center For Specialized Veterinarian Care 516 420-0000
They are wonderful there. If it is too far, there is a specialist place in bohemia and plainview. Good luck!

I think she's doing ok, thanks for asking. The bleeding stopped shortly after my last message and we decided to let her sleep while we went to the wedding. We were so nervous about her the whole time we were gone, though! But when we got home, she seemed fine. So we were relieved. The only bad aftereffect was that she apparently had this horrible nightmare last night...woke us up with a blood-curdling howl around 5 am. We were so scared! But I think it was just a nightmare (I didn't realize dogs had those!)
