thats not even close to true! We went in July and Aug for ours and it was no where near that. We went to the Big Island and Oahu for 8 nights.
Our hotels were like 200-300 a night and we spent maybe 100 a day on food (breakfast and dinner)

i think its about 1,000 a day for tahiti/moorea/bora bora
hawaii and fiji are about the same i think and u can find better prices for these places then in tahiti

We stayed for 12 nights in hawaii, 3 islands, 4and 5 star hotels for about $8k with air. BEST MONEY EVER SPENT!!!! IT WAS AMAZING!!!!

I think it depends on what you do. I went to Maui last year and there were some days where we spend $100 for lunch...$300 for dinner. And then there is the $300-400 room dare. And excursions can get pricey too.

Hawaii- delux ocean view rooms 5 star hotels , 12 days , three Islands ( Oaho, Maui and Kaui) , rented a car in Maui and Kau'i it was a little over 9k , not including spending money... well worth every penny IMO

If you want to save $ in Maui, I highly recommend the Kaanapali Beach Hotel! Its right next to the Sheraton and Hyatt, same beach, and we paid 200 a night for a garden view. They upgraded us to a 'pool view', but it was really an ocean view. We stayed at the Hyatt in Kauai, and it was amazing, but 500 per night for garden view. We did get upgraded though. The Hyatt was much fancier than the Kaanapali, but we really loved Kaanapali Beach Hotel. The rooms were clean and large, and had an authentic hawaiin feel. At either island, if you love sushi, get some from the safeway supermarket -- it was as good if not better than any of the restaurants you ate at. It is possible to not spend a fortune in Hawaii.
