if ceremony is at Reception Hall, what do you do....

We are still having a rehearsal dinner at a restaurant that's pretty close to the hall. Though it's a bit awkward - we're rehearsing at 3, dinner is at 6:30 - but we're still having the RD.

Hmmmm..okay...when are you having the rehearsal dinner?
So you're having your officiant, and all of the key players, too?

The hall is in Babylon and the dinner is in West Islip (Villa Monaco). The officiants will be there and most of the key players - it's too hard for the out of town BP to make it but I'm not worried because it's just walking down the aisle and they've all done it before.

that's what i've been toying around with--just having a dinner with the 2 families coming together to get to know eachother a little bit better, in a quieter setting
When are you having your dinner?

Ours is not really a rehearsal dinner since the rehearsal will be about an hour before the wedding. Its more of a 'pre-wedding' dinner. I didn't really think one is necessary, but FH's parents want to do it. It will most likely be the night before because everyone on FHs side is from OOT.

Right now we're not planning on having a rehearsal dinner because half of our BP lives far enough away or OOT that they wouldn't want to travel to the hall twice in one weekend.

We still had a rehearsal dinner...it was a way to do a rehearsal too...not really for the adults...more for the children. They had never been in a wedding before and didn't want them to be too surprised the morning of. So we all got together the day before, which was good to join both families together before the big day (mine is from OOT) and just relax... We had a private room and were able to go over the details with the kids, etc. We gave out the gifts for the BP at this time too and were able to explain a little about them as they were used in the 'grand entrance' into the reception. It was relaxing yet very beneficial in reviewing details with the BP that couldn't be conveyed earlier.

We are renting out the bar area of Tin Alley Grill, which is near the Wingate in Garden City. All out-of-towners and immediate family are invited. Since we aren't having a rehearsal, it's really just a welcome get-together with appetizer-type foods (chicken fingers, etc.). Very low-key and fun.

We're going to have a rehearsal at the hall the night before. Not so much for the adults bc they can handle walking down an aisle, but I want my FG and jrBM to get used to it since this is their 1st wedding. Then we'll either have the RD at a nearby restaurant or go back to my mom's house for it, haven't decided yet.
