If Groomsmen own a tux already, should they still rent?
Dilema here - groomsmen have to pay for their own tux rentals, right?
So, if some already own a tux, I am afraid they will start complaining that they don't need to rent because they already own one. However, I want the groomsmen to look the same. I have no idea if they own a nice tux or a 1980s look. I don't want to be a bridezilla, but what is usually done in this case? They have to wear same vests and shirts and I am not sure if tux rental places allow to rent just vests. What's the polite way to tell them they have to rent even if they own a tux?

I would just be nice and be upfront with them. Every tux is different some have one button, two, buttons, or more. Just say Iam sorry but because all the groomsman have to match you will need to rent a tux because i dont want it to look bad in pictures.

I think it really depends on what the tux looks like. All the dads and the best man already owed a tux. It made more sense for my DH to buy his own then to rent. I have one photo on my home computer that has a photo of the all guys in different tuxes and the only one who sticks out is my father in a double-breasted tux and no vest. (I'll try and post it later) If the GM is local, it might be a good idea to have him bring the tux to the rental place and have you make a decision before he actual rents. It would stink to have to pay for something that you essentially already have.

I personally think I'd be unhappy if someone made FH rent a tux, even though he owns one. Thats the reason he bought it, so he wouldnt have to rent anymore. All of our GM and dads own their tuxes, and I didnt see the sense of making them go out and rent, but thats just me...I didnt care so much about the continuity, to me they all look similar enough.

Honeslty, you may notice but most other people won't. If it's the same style tux as the others (single breasted , etc) then no one will notice. As for the vest and tie, before you assume that the tux place won't rent it out, call the store and ask.
