If i'm correct.....

If i'm correct.....

My shower is in 2 sundays from now, on July 17 (also my birthday).

I've been stalking my registry (I just can't help it) and noticed that only a few gifts have been purchased... Should I be nervous that my registry items are too expensive? Someone did purchase my food processor (that was $249), but i'm nervous that i'm not gonna get the good stuff that i want because it's too $$.

For instance, i registered for a pan set that's $399. An my vacuum is $310. And the china is all SOOO expensive. UGH! What do you ladies think? Should i sacrifice quality to bring the cost down for my guests? I really don't want them to break the bank on me, but I also want stuff that will last forever!

TIA!

ETA - sorry if any of this post sounds bratty... totally not trying to sound like that!

I put gifts on my registry in different price ranges because I know everyones worried about money. I had expensive luggage and comforter set to inexpensive everyday glasses and a 50 ice cream maker. You know your guest list if trusted are people that had lost jobs and such I would definitely spread it out

They always say to register for various priced items. Afterall, if some of the lesser expensive items are purchased and you dont really find yourself needing them at BBB you can return them for cash to use somewhere else or towards larger purchases. The more expensive $249 item may be a gift that a few people went in on. I have found from experience most people spent anywhere from $35-$50 on a shower gift. But then there are guests who spent $150+ so it all depends. I would definitely register for various priced items.

As a side note, our registries were literally wiped clean between our engagement gifts, shower gifts and wedding gifts (the later for those guests that didnt attend or were not invited). Many of your items may fly off in the end!

I don't think you sound bratty at all ... Keep in mind though, that this is a holiday weekend, and your guests may be waiting until after the holiday to start shopping - I noticed that NOTHING came off my registry until the last week before my shower.

If you feel you may have overly expensive registry items for some 'financially challenged' guests, then why not throw in a few cheaper items, thats what I did to play it safe for everyone ... I had registry items ranging from $1.99 all the way to $300, and get this, none of the cheaper stuff was purchased! Everyone went big on my gifts, and I was shocked! You may even have some people pitch in together for some of the larger registry items - for instance, a few of my coworkers all pitched in on my keurig, some tupperware, a hand mixer and a toaster oven!

So yea, sorry for the incredibly long response, lol ... just don't worry about it! haha!

I'm in the same boat - my shower is on the 23rd & the only items that have been bought for me I have already received from the people who can't make the shower.....I want presents not gift cards so FH and I don't have to decide on what to buy from our whole registry! We also have a wide variety of price ranges ($5 - $450). Hope this turns around for both of us!

Re: If i'm correct.....

hey Aly!

i had some pretty expensive things on my registry and people bought them anyway

some people chipped in and bought things together - like i registered for a dyson and 5 people bought it together

don't fret! my mom said most of my gits weren't bought until two days or the day before the shower

Dont' be nervous...most people are last minute shoppers. You have 2 weeks left. The last 4 or 5 days stuff will start to fly off! Especially because this weekend is a holiday. Wait until next weekend.

Re: If i'm correct.....

i always wait till the last minute to buy gifts for showers... and if i think things are too expensive then I will just get them a gift card to use for the expensive gifts, cause you know that everyone else will do the same....
