well now....how could i forget these sweet fellas?

ok...i was hoping to find a pic of those 'have a happy period' labels...but this will do....

text that goes w/pic.:
'Kotex'
One new account in the 1920s was the Kimberly-Clark product, Kotex. The first Kotex ads, which appeared in 1921, pictured young women skating. It was designed to enhance the publicity of the product.

As the publicity increased, the ads set forward the general value and convenience of the product in an inoffensive, scientific way. The negative reaction was far milder than either the manufacturer or the advertising agency had expected.

Lasker took tremendous pride in the campaign, because it was a 'simon-pure' advertising triumph that was achieved in the face of a tabooed topic. By 1927, L & T claimed that 'over 80 per cent of the better class of women in America today employ Kotex [12, p.20-22].'
