If one more person...

Hi! So I just joined and have decided that my first post should be the one and only complaint post from now until 2014...

So, like the subject says...if ONE more person tells me that '2014 is right around the corner. You don't have as much time as you think you do.' I'm going to go bananas on them.

/end rant.


In other news... I'm Marissa (more often known as Riss). I got engaged last week to my boyfriend of four years. The proposal was epic and I'm still trying to get over the initial shock.

My mother and best friend are two of those lovely people saying '2014 is just around the corner' so I've decided to appease them by looking at dresses (OMG way too early) and venues.

I've been engaged for almost a year already and everyone constantly says '2014 is soooo far away. Why would you wait so long?' I don't pay any attention to what anyone says lol

Welcome and congrats! Coming from someone who will be planning for over 20 months...do what you want! I booked everything last year around this time for my nov 2012 wedding.
Everyone will put in their 2 cents so just learn to do what you want and go at your own pace.

Don't let anyone influence what you and your FH want to do. Just let it roll off your back and do things at your own speed!

Congrats! When we decided to move our date from 2013 to 2014, there were two reactions we got from people. Either they were like 'Oh it will be here before you know it.' or they would say 'OMG that is so far away!' but at this point come June it will be a year and a half away and things are moving along nicely.

I would definitely start to look at venues because the sooner you book that, you'll get a date you want and also you have tons of time to make payments and relieve some stress that can cause you. It is a little early to look at dresses but I'm doing it too, its fun and its great to get ideas!

See I feel like I get the opposite!! I feel like people keep telling me 'Oh its so far away' and blah blah lol! But I wanted my engagement to be at least 2yrs so I could plan out everything that I wanted and I didn't have to settle and give up anything that I might not be able to afford if we did our wedding in one year! I love that my wedding is so far away though, it makes all the fun planning last that much longer!!

That's exactly why I made it 2 years away too! I'm so OCD and such a planner that I needed all that time to even put anything together. Plus, my parents live in Florida and they have the so I need to wait until they visit so we can go over stuff! So I'm definitely in your 2 year boat. :)

I agree, waiting the 2 years has let me get a lot! the Sunday on a holiday weekend I wanted, the venue I wanted, the photographer I wanted and hopefully the videographer I want lol but he doesn't book that far in advance unfortunately. I haven't had to compromise anything I wanted yet, but if I had done 2013 I would have had to give up most of that.

I usually get funny looks from everyone because 2014 is so far away. Everytime I go to a bridal showcase, even the vendors say 'oh so you're just getting an idea of what you want?' or people will say 'oh thats okay, its good to save up first'. You just have to do what you want to do and what is the perfect plan for you and your fiance!

i am a 2014 bride as well and everyone keeps saying 'its sooo far away'...i just ignore them..it used to bother me but me and my fiance wanted a good amount of time to plan and save money!!

Totally agree with this! Everytime I tell someone our wedding date, I always get some comment, usually 'oh wow that's so long'. Some people even say that's not a good idea! I just laugh it off b/c in the end, it's what works best for me and my FH. Happy planning!

If one more person...

I am getting 50/50 friends are telling me that the date will come quickly yet my future mother in law thinks it's far away and I have to agree with her! Although FH and I are not trying to make anything about the day complicated I almost feel like I'll have too much time on my hands! But only time will tell. Also I am waiting as late as I can for my dress because I know it will be consuming and I'm so indecisive I won't want to buy one and then find another I love :)

Yay! Thank goodness I'm not alone! I got engaged on dec. And the ones tht pressured me to get married sooner was my FH fam. I was like umm idts (since my mom and FH are helping to pay for the wed) anyways, I use to hate it when they would tell me why wait so long!! Likee uhh I want to finish my school first AND planning a wedding is not as easy! Thank God my FH told them to quit saying tht and now I don't have to hear it anymore

I'm jus hoping they don't d the same telling me when I'm going to get pregnant after marry cause fh and I dont want kids anytime soon.

I'm Jan 2015 (which is only 2 days AFTER 2014) and when I tell people my date, they look like they are going to fall off their chair. LOL Everyone is always like 'WHY are you waiting so long??'. And I try to explain its 2 years away - really not that long. lol but everyone has an opinion. and Congrats!!!

I know how you feel. Like someone else said, half of people say it's going to be here before you know it, others say the opposite. I find the ones who are married are the ones who say it will come quick!!
We have plenty of time to do things and plan!
