how did you go about choosing? did you tell all the girls the designer and color and let them go on the website and pick what they wanted? did you bring them all to the store?
also, i know bridal shops will give discounts the more dresses you order...was this the case if you ordered different styles of the same designer?

I was in my friend's wedding & she had done this. We had to stick w/ the same color & she wanted all gowns, but otherwise we could choose anything. We all went in (not necessarily w/ her, when we could).
The shop I found offered a discount only if there was a LARGE number of bm and/or if you ordered your dress there.
Definitely let them try on the dress they are ordering.

My SIL used Fantasia Bridal in Rocky Point. They carry Alfred Angelo. We were told the color but we could choose any dress we wished from his BM collection. He has these separates that worked out SO well for those of us that hate dresses. It was great. She did go with each of us but didn't veto anyone as long as they felt comfortable in the dress. We did get a large discount because she had a very large wedding party. They also got rid of the 'fat tax' (that extra charge for the plus size girls). I still got snagged with the tall girl tax (I'm 5'11') but I got all the other discounts. They also capped the alteration charge for us. Ended up spending about $325 when all was said and done.

I would recommend choosing the fabric also, since 'cranberry' might not be the same in taffeta v. organza v. satin.

I went with 3 of the girls and they tried on a bunch of the dresses, that's how they chose. The 4th lives in CA but she used to work in a bridal store so I left it up to her to decide--I think she just picked one. She's also a size 2 and pretty much everything looks good on her haha...we ordered through netbride.com so the discount thing was irrelevant, but we got better prices anyway

I think I am going to pick out 1 dress in 2 colors and 3 styles and let them choose. Probably pink and green. The styles are halter, boatneck, and strapless. There is only one BM who I am requesting wear the boatneck (she doesn't know she is the only one) because she is very busty and she would probably pick something unflattering on her own. The rest I will probably let choose. I think they aer going to give me a discount because I am ordering the same dress in different styles.

I picked the designer, color and fabric. I told them that they could have whatever dress they wanted as long as it was floor length. Alfred Angelo is great for this, because they have both separates and dresses, and they are relatively inexpensive.

My friend picked the store and color and let us bridesmaids choose the design (as long as the dress was floor length). I thought it worked out well since we choose styles that looked good on our shape.
