If there is a 20% service charge built in to your......

contract... how much should we tip the wait staff?

my banquet manager gave me an envelope for that.. on it, it said $5/person.

eta: it is my understanding that the maitre d splits that money amongst the wait staff.

Yes i already had a 20% added to our bill from RH...

we only had to tip MD....

Ditto. It was my understanding that the 20% service charge is distributed among the wait staff. I could be wrong though.

We did also tip our bridal attendants, well one of them because the other was MIA all night.

Maitre D and bridal attendant...but I know for a fact from many of my customers and friends that the MD does NOT give the wait staff any money...they make an hourly amount and then once in a while a guest will slip them a little money for excellent service.

The 20% should go to the staff. You should just tip the BM, and we gave like $3 pp.

Yeah we were told up front by our RH that the 20% Service fee didn't include tips. They said that most halls won't tell you that none of it really goes to the staff. Seemed like a lot, but I guess it's the norm

My contract states that the 20% charge is not for tipping. It says that their staff gets paid a much higher rate than other venues and additional tipping is optional.
