did you tell the person what kind of look u want or what colors?
i didn't and wan't too happy. i want to get it right the next time but it's hard to describe makeup when u never wear it!
i kinda want a 'fresh' 'dewy' look if that makes sense but my hair is redish so i can't wear pink colors.

I definately told her what I wanted. Not in terms of colors, but in terms of the type of look. I didn't want a too natural look, and I told them.
The person I picked is the one that chose the colors for me that I loved, based on the look that I was going for.
I think you definately should let them know what you want; otherwise, they are just going to do what they would want.
Also, usually the makeup artists ask. Didn't yours ask?

You got to tell them. I wanted a dewy look and ended up having a bunch of trials because they kept doing it too matte. Airbrushing is bad if you want matte. I finally used Jill harth. After explaining what I wanted, she nailed it perfectly.

One of the artists Im having a trial with told me to bring in pics of makeup that I like AND dont like so she knows what to stay away from as well. But you definately have to explain the look you want and if possible narrow it down to the colors you like/dont like and if you like sparkes/no sparkles etc.

I was going to suggest the same. Pictures speak a thousand words. Try to find a picture of the look you're trying to create and Good Luck!!

I like the idea that the look of a bride is an extension of her everyday self mixed with lil 'hints' of glam. In my opinion, a bride should not look like a painted lady - but more like a natural, elegant, beauty. That will be the look I try for. LOL. Notice I said 'try'. Oh dear, my make up artist will have her work cut out for her.

I never wear makeup either so I feel your pain!
The first trial I went to, I didn't say anything, just let them do what they wanted, because I figured what the hell do I know, I never wear makeup....I HATED IT!!!
The next time I explained that I never wear makeup and wanted to look natural, but special because it is a special day...I was so much happier with the 2nd trial!!!
