If you are having out of town guests do you invite thier kids?
Re: If you are having out of town guests do you invite thier kids?
I just had to address this same situation, I did not invite them with kids.

I did. I dont know what the big deal about having a few kids is. I had an evening wedding and didn't even notice them. If you are going to want OOT people to be there invite them with their kids or they prob wont come unless its close enough to drive or make it back that night. JMO

We had some OOT guests bring their little ones, and they were EXCEPTIONALLY well-behaved. We barely noticed they were there. . .until one of the 4 year olds decided to sit in my chair at the dais because she wanted to sit in 'the princess chair.' That was more cute than anything else, so I gave it up for a few minutes while I danced. . .but I digress.

I didn't have a choice in the matter, since FMIL mandated we 'have' to invite out to third cousins. I'm so over it at this point. Luckily most of them are older, or at least 2/3rds of the children in the families. There's 2 families I'm concerned with, each have 4 young kids, one in SI and one in FL, and I hope both don't come. On my side we did not invite our OOT guests with their children.

Just dealing with this today and agree, I am putting a 16 and up!
Re: If you are having out of town guests do you invite thier kids?
I originally wanted to keep it 16 and older but since my FH's entire family is coming from the Midwest we're left to invite all ages. I don't want some of his family not to come based on an age. We are providing a babysitter for the infants and toddlers and the rest of the children are coming to the reception.
Re: If you are having out of town guests do you invite thier kids?
It depends where they are from; I have family from CA, and I would invite them with their kids b/c I wouldn't expect them to make the trip w/o them, and wouldn't expect them to find a NY babysitter. I have friends from Boston who could make a weekend trip and I know they often use their parents as babysitters, so I would not invite them with kids (however, if they called me and said they could not get the grandparents to babysit, then I would welcome the kids).

I did. In my family, our rule has always been for weddings that all OOTers can bring their kids. I had 7 kids under 18 and they were phenominal. Four of them were my ringbearer and flower girls and they basically stole the show! Cant wait to see the pictures from my photographer!

My entire family was OOT and there are tons of kids on my side and we did not invite any of them. No one had a problem. Everyone left their kids with in-laws except for one cousin who couldn't come because of not being able to find a babysitter.
