If you are honeymooning in Italy...

If you are honeymooning in Italy...

...what cities are you going to visit and what do you think your itinerary will be?

We finally narrowed in on a country (yay!) and now we have to figure out exactly where we want to go. One stop will definitely be Rome because we want to see all the tourist sites. Other than that, I would love to maybe see Florence, Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast, Capri, etc... but don't want to bounce around too much. Maybe 3 destinations total.

Right now we're thinking fly into Florence, then Rome, then south (Capri/Amalfi/Sorrento) -- what do you think?

FH and I were in Italy for New Years and Florence was by far my favorite city... I would definitely add that to your itinerary!!!!

I love Florence and Capri. If you go to Capri, you MUST go see the Grotto Azzurro (Blue Grotto). It's really one of the most incredible things I've ever seen.

We are going to Florence 3 days , Rome 3 days and Amalfi Coast for a week. ( thinking of staying in Positano/Capri)
I heard it's gorgeous there and the food is great :)
Have you started planning ?
We called and e-mailed the hotels we are interested in and were told that they are releasing prices for 2010 in end of Sept. beg of Oct. so we are going to start planning next weekend .

Perfect.
IF you plan on staying in Capri overnight you should try the hotel 'San Michele' in AnaCapri which is much more peaceful than the lower mountain. Also look up 'Club Nettuno'. They charge by the day and is a little pricey but is so beautiful by the pool and you can jump into the sea and swim within 10 feet of the Grotta Azure

I just got back from France & Italy this past Sunday. We were in Cinque Terre and it was absolutely incredible. You hike between the towns, so it's a nice way to add a little activity to the HM.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I'm so excited!

We're not including Venice because although we'd like to see it, it seems out of the way relative to the other places that we'd rather see.

This morning I actually spoke to a friend who is from Italy (Milan) and she said Capri is her favorite place in the world! She also recommended Positano, Amalfi and Ravello (and said that you could see all in one day) but that Sorrento is not really worth it. I never heard of the Blue Grotto but now it is definitely on my list!

YAY!

We are only going to Italy for a few days because the boat for our cruise leave from Venice... so def Venice, Rome and Florence.

I cannot wait! Looks like we are flying into Paris and staying 3 nights (note: you can't fly into Florence directly, maybe you should fly into Venice, then go from there to Florence, just an idea.) Anyway, Paris 3 nights, Florence 4 nights, Rome 3 nights, Capri 3 nights. I'm surprising FH with a trip to Normandy on his birthday, he is a huge WWII history buff.
