i have the card already but unfortunatly i am suppost to expect money for my wedding since most of the people are in his side of the family. so i guess i have to speak to him. luckily i have my two sisters with me so we can probably chip in on something dunno he is a major crap bag!!!!

I ususally get him a shirt, or something non-descript. Just something to say 'I gave you something' (now leave me alone!).

my dad aren't all that close at all as is he and everyone else. he doesn't do anything really for our bdays, holidays, etx and he's not the only one. our fam's just like that. we don't do gifts. we do dinners maybe .. that's about it. but we, at least i, know he means well in his own little way. but when it comes to his bday or father's day and he gets nothing he gets a lil sad. my dad likes to fish so i got him one of those rod things but he told me i got the wrong one. since i can't really afford a boat which is what he really wants i decided to pay some of his bills to compensate. maybe you could do the same. pay for his cable bill... electric bill...?

I really want to go the sarcastic card route. I've been trying to find a card that lists all the qualities of what a father should be, but doens't specifically say 'you have these qualities' so I can send it ironically, as in 'this is what you should be, but you aren't, you piece of @#$%

Yea father's day is always tough...my dad and I are not close at all....I always tend more toward the funny cards, rather then the sentimental ones, b/c they just don't fit. I usually get him something general like a gift cert to the mall or a restaurant.

i love my dad, despite his crap. i just have a soft spot and i don't know why. we just have very little in common and his dad died when he was 6 and his stepdad was an abusive alcoholic, so i shrug all of his mis-steps in life to that, therefore, as much of a jerk that he can be, i just can't be mean to him. and now he has two little ones with my stepmother, so i HAVE to be good. so i do get the sarcastic card (you're the best dad ever) and something for 30 bucks. i just don't have the heart to be mean to him. and believe me, he could use a swift kick in the a$$ from me!!!

DH and I are trying to save money, so our fathers are just getting cards. They're just glad to know that we're thinking of them on Father's Day.
