How much did it cost for the whole shebang? Including calligraphy, inner and outer envelopes, thank you cards, and response cards? I'm looking to buy 125 and the whole thing may cost around $1500! Is that crazy expensive?

Ditto. But I noticed it says Cranes on the bottom. That's what you are paying for.

Well, Cranes is one of the most expensive designers, are you having them engraved or letterpressed? That plus an inner envelope and lining with all letterpress paper will make it cost a lot.
I had william arthur letterpress everything and got 200 invites, inner, outter (lined) envelopes, rsvp card, direction card, and return and sender addresses all in letterpress. I only had black ink, but colored ink also adds to the cost and silver or gold lettering adds a lot. My invites alone (not including calligraphy) were 1,600. I received the caligraphy as a present so it was free. I was quoted anywhere from 1-3 per set for calligraphy. So For 200-600 I could have had calligraphy bringing the total to 1,800 to 2,200 for 200 invites.

eta: If they are charging you $3 for a set of calligraphy then it is 375 and your invite cost is 1125. If you are doing engraved or letterpress with a liner and burgundy and pink colored ink, then that is on the expensive but reasonable for what you are getting cost.
Look at the piece without the liner and the 2 colored ink and shop arround to see who will quote you the best price. If you want to use one vendor then tell them this is what you got and see if they will match it.
