If you breastfed but also used bottles, which bottles are best?
I plan on breastfeeding but am also going to have to pump since I need to go back to work, and I would also like DH to have some time feeding the baby. Are there any brands of bottles which are better to use with a baby who is used to being breastfed? Thanks so much!

I use the Playtex Nursers (Disposables) with the preformed liners. The nipples for these are called NaturaLatch. It's suppose to simulate the breast. My son didn't hesitate once with taking the bottle instead.

I used Dr. Brown's and Andrew took to it with no problem. We also had the curved Advent bottle with slow flow nipple and Andrew hated it. So we continue to use the Dr. Brown's, although the many parts to it can be a pain when you have to clean them.

Someone just bought me a Dr. Brown, but it reminds me of a chemistry set and I'm a little intimidated by it. I was concerned about the cleaning issues too.
I have the Playtex ventaire's but I think they stink (leak, runny). I love the Playtex nursers (disposable) and that is her bottle of choice.

You need a wide nipple made of silcone. I use Playtex Nursers.

I say it depends on the baby. Gabriella takes some brand (cheap) and evenflo with no problems.

I breastfed the first year for both of my daughters, my oldest loved the advent, my youngest had sever reflux and benefitted from dr browns, these are suppose to be the top 2

So I guess the answer is to get a few different bottle/nipples (don't open them all and save your reciept) and try different ones. Every baby is different.
(Just want to add that you should not introduce a bottle until the baby is 4 weeks old to help avoid nipple confusion. If you run into any breastfeeding trouble call a lacation consultant as soon as possible- even in the hospital. THe hospital LCs are not always as good as professional ones on the 'outside'. I used Dawn Frank, South Shore Lacation. )

Michele, that is what I think we are going to wind up doing. After all of everyone's advice (which I greatly appreciate) and all I have read elsewhere, this is quite confusing... so instead of getting a starter set, I think we will try to buy a few different types of bottles and see which works and which doesn't. Thanks for all of your help ladies.
