...Hungry vendors make for bad music, bad video and bad photos. Just a thought.

Re: if you dont feed your vendors....
I'm sure the hall fed them. HOwever, I'm going to include mine in my count (1/2 price for vendors) and I think they should be fed, definitely don't want a HUGRY angry Vendor at all....Most epecially the Photographer and Videographer.
There aren't really that many vendors to feed except for: (including assistants, etc.)
-DOC (if using) -Photographer -Videographer
I'm not sure abotu the DJ, but I'm going to include them anyway.

Well, they may just stand there and stare at you while you eat if ya don't feed them. What else are they gonna do while everyone is eating?

It's a bad idea, IMO.
they are not robots. what are they supposed to do while everyone is eating & the room is filled with the aroma of dinner?
it's just wrong.

I never thought that feeding them was optional - my hall tacked them on to the end of my headcount without asking.

Re: if you dont feed your vendors....
i've talked to a few bands that actually said they don't need to be fed. they said they can either just eat something during cocktail hours or they'll take care of it themselves.

Feed them for Pete's sake...I fed them all. There was a table in the room with us. No big deal..everyone is happy when their belly is full.

I know what you mean...its one of those little questions that you wake up in the middle of the night thinking. One of those what ifs. Because it is conceiveable that we could forget to tack them onto the head count, with everything else that is going on with the planning. I totally understand you question.

It's not really up to you to remember. Your hall will ask 'are you providing dinner for your vendors?'
When you answer 'yes' they mark it down on your detail sheet and then they make sure it's taken care of.
I know that toward the end of the night, I made it a point to remind them all to take some time to eat and have something to drink. They all said that they were fine. A little while later, I saw them taking turns eating at the vendor table.

sorry, I guess everyone misunderstood what you were saying.
I guess if you forget, then they don't eat. I heard that sometimes (depending on your maitre D) they will feed them in the kitchen.

I know that if you don't include the vendors (which some vendors say is okay, but I would never do that) they bring their own food. A brown bag lunch is what they eat. Trust me, if you don't pay for them, the hall will not feed them.

Even with a 1/3 or 1/2 off discount you could potentially paying 100-130 a head, even more! If anyone of your catering places is part restaurant they can order off the regular menu. There is no way a band, dj or photographer will sit through the entire dinner anyway. Even if they order 2 dinners each you are still saving a lot!
It blew me away that with a total of 12 for vendors it could cost an extra $2000!!!
Catering halls will never mention that idea, but if you bring it up they are fine with it!
