Since the band now has 11 members, some people have told me to ask the band if they are going to eat the sit down dinner, or just eat at the cocktail.
Any experiences with this? If I spend the money I want to make sure it does not go to waste, but I kind of feel weird asking them.

I am not having that band but from what my caterer told me, we are not supposed to be feeding the band a full sit-down meal. They are to eat from the cocktail hour which will be more than plentiful. If there are no-shows in terms of guests (and there ALWAYS are), the band will be getting the meals of the people who were not able to show up. Just a thought you may want to consider.

We had 9 pcs and we fed them the full meal. We paid 1/2 price for them. The caterer sometimes has rules about feeding vendors, I would say, go with what you feel comfortable with. It's up to you, not the caterer. Also, the band sets up during the cocktail hour and sound checks and they won't have the time to eat. That's just something else to consider.

We were able to negotiate the price of our band DOWN slightly because they told us they wanted to eat dinner!
We were like 'If we're paying over $1,200 for all 10 members of the band to eat, you have to knock something off the price'!!! Good luck!!!

We negotiated our band to eat for free from the hall.
