If you had to pick one place in Italy...

Original post by KittyGags

FH hasn't ever been and I've been ALL over Italy so I can't pick...we want to spend a few days there and then pop over to the Greek Isles...

Any ideas? (my vote was for Capri)

TIA!

i fm'd u a LOOOOOOOON NNNNNNGGGGG fm! My fav place is where the olympics will be held next time! Abbruzzi! Absolutely gorgeous! Half hour in either direction from snow capped mountains (like the alps) and the pescara beach! its insane!

Abbruzzo!! Thats where my fam is from!! : ) And I agree its gorg!!

I would do Rome or Florence for the 'I have to see places in Italy' type of thing....but I would also def do Capri!! Its one of the most beautiful place I have ever been too....especially when I saw the blue gratto... Florence and Capri are my two favs, but Rome is closer to Capri than Florence.

AHHH!!! so is FH's!!!!!!!! where in Abbruzzo?! Pescara?! Chieti?! Chieti Scalo?! I truly want to move there hahaha

My personal opinion, Rome and Venice are all TOURISM and thts really it. If u go to venice stay in the town of Lido NOT in Venice, its nicer and has a beach!!!! and its beautiful!

Rome i hated other than the restaurant we fell in love with

I loved Milan and Florence as well

I can't remember if I wrote you back or not (ambien coma!) but thank you!!!!!

hahaha u didnt but its perfectly fine!!

I hear Capri is gorgeous, I'm dieing to go there. Sicily is amazing but I'm partial to Sicily bc that's where I'm from

Sardinia is also gorgeous

Sardinia is ridiculously amazing, I'm actually Sardinian (weird right? No one is!). But the problem is, if we're only looking to do a day or two, its just too far out of the way

We are going to be in Italy and are doing the Amalfi coast drive followed by a hike in Pompeii. We are also doing a very extensive tour in Rome. In Florence, we are doing an extensive tour and a quick pass to Pisa. And on our last night, we are in Venice for two days with a couple of activites in mind- like the glass factory and a gondola ride.

if u want good less expensve restaurants in Venice let me know!!! Some really take u for all ur money and some r great!

What do you want, history, art or romance?

I would never go to Italy again without going to Rome. But Florence and Venice are beautiful and a gondola ride on your honeymoon may be pretty romantic. Capri is nice too, but Rome is the best city in Italy in my opinion.

See thats the thing--I'm like don't you want to see things your first time there? and hes like not concerned but I can't go to Italy with him and have him not see Rome? Like really?

What about 1 city in Italy then 1 beachie place, 2 days each? (my city pick is venice but I think thats RATHER far from Capri!)

Thats why were doing Hawaii and not Italy. I was a history/art double major, so I took tons of art history courses. But the last time I was in Italy was before my college classes. There was no way we could go to Italy and have a relaxing honeymoon. I would have to drag him into every church and museum in Italy. Knowing that, he chose Hawaii.

I would so go to Capri.. and Napoli (by default because thats where we are from lol) but also Rome and the Vatician because I love history and i would love to see the catacombs!

Now, my choice would be Positano!

Let me know if you don't mind. I can understand Italian and speak Spanish (My Mom went to Italy and got by with speaking Spanish and they didn't rip her off.) That was going to be my method of communication. But if you could give me info on restuarants, please let me know. Thanks!

Since he's never been, I would suggest Rome and Capri. Rome is really romantic at night
