I was in your program at SB (the online master's). We had the entire semester since it was a course devoted to the thesis. I believe it was between 25 and 30 pages. If I remember correctly the minimum was 25. My topic focused on my area of interest, and I was very interested in it at the time. Now I wish I had focused in on what the topic for my doctoral dissertation is, but I did not know that at the time.
ETA: It was really easy--they forced you to pace yourself by having different sections due different weeks. It was like remedial thesis writing.

I did a creative thesis for my television-radio-film masters degree. I wrote a feature length screenplay - I did it in 2 months, and it came out to just under 140 pages. It was fun...

Mine was about Enterprise Application Integration and Web Services. It was around 45 pages. I did my Master's online, and we had 10 week quarters instead of semesters. So I had 10 weeks to write it. It was a topic that I didn't know much about so it was hard to write, and I was so glad when I finally finished and got an A!

I'm also taking my thesis class this semester. My first class was yesterday. The professor informed us that by the time we are finished with the thesis it will be 60 pages!!! OMG! How am I going write that much?.. no clue

I wrote my master's thesis about classroom environment. It is a subject I am interested in. If I were to write it again, I might write about standardized testing and school funding. My thesis was around 40 pages.

Ny undergrad thesis was over 100 pages, so about five times longer than my master's thesis. The secret is pacing yourself--I forced myself to write at least 10 pages a week. That made it so much easier than people who left it til the last minute. My roommate didn't sleep the week before it was due. The Stony Brook master's thesis is cake--don't worry about it.

My undergrad thesis was supposed to be 30 pages on various research and experiences relating to directing a play. Then on closing night of my show, my advisor told me to forget the paper, I had shown far more than enough work between the quality of the show, observing me in rehearsals and my production book to merit an A so the paper was unneccesary. I was actually looking forward to writing it, but I guess I lucked out big time. Good Luck!

i'm in the process of writing my thesis. my topic is jewish american artsongs: the music of julius chajes and david diamond. i have until january 19. my thesis advisor helped me choose my topic. i knew i wanted something w/ artsongs (b/c my senior recital corresponds to my thesis topic). the minimum amt of pages is 30.

My Master's Thesis was around 70 pages or so, my 2nd masters thesis was around 80 - and my PhD dissertation was around 300.

I also did mine online at SB. I think mine turned out to be about 27 pages. At the time I was pregnant and found everything about pregnancy fascinating, so I chose to do my paper on Postpartum Depression. It actually was not as bad as I thought it would be.... it's much more interesting and fun when you are interested in the topic.

LOL I would have LOVED to switch with many of you - My honors thesis undergrad had to be a minimum of 75-80 pages - mine was over 100 pages.
LOL 25-30 pages is just an average paper to what I am used to - I had to do a few of those a semester depending on what classes I was taking and whether there was a final in the course.

it was on chemical tankers (vessels that carry chemicals) it was so boring

I did my Masters in Thermal Fluids and Heat Transfer at Stony Brook, graduated '00
What was your topic? Experimental study of solidification in a simulated Czochralski system using liquid crystal thermography.
Basically, this is the process how silicon chips are grown for electronics. What I investigated the effects of the fluid flow due to temperature gradients in the liquid on the purity of the crystal which is grown from the surface of the fluid (what the chip is cut from). I used water with a chemical that shows the temperature profiles (in various colors) and grew ice crystals (~6” diameter) from the top, with or without rotation of the crystal and/or liquid.

Was it something you were very interested in? Not particularly. I wanted to do research in the aero field but Stony Brook had to labs for this.

It felt like the biggest waste of my time since I did not pursue a career in that.... but I met my closest friend from it. Good trade off
