If you havent lately...
I know this may seem like a ridiculous post, but this scared me to death, and I dont want this to happen to anyone else.
I went for my physical exam for my new job, where they drew blood, the whole bit. Well, it turns out my cholesterol is 304. Normal is 200 or less, and high is over 240. I am 24 years old, and although I need to lose about 10 lbs, I am not overweight. (I started weight watchers the day before I found this out, and I was only a half pound above normal weight for my height and age)
The point of this is, If you havent had your cholesterol checked, do it! I was told by the doctor at the employee health center that even though my results are not good, its better that I found out now than when I am going for prenatal screening tests in the next few years. After some research, I discovered that high cholesterol in pregnancy can lead to a lot of problems such as preeclampsia (high blood pressure), seizures and many other thngs. My father has problems with his cholesterol, so its very likely that the problem is genetic and not so much related to diet, but its scary that I could have a heart attack at 40. Going to my doctor on monday to get more tests done. Sorry so long, but I just wanted to spread the message, you never would expect this at the young ages we all are.
