When ANYONE shows you their engagement ring, the only, ONLY appropriate response is:
“Oh that’s gorgeous” or “How beautiful”
Responses which are not appropriate include;
“It is very plain isn’t it?”
“How many carats is that? I wouldn’t say yes for less than 2 carats” (that’ll be why you are still single!).
“It sticks out quite a lot; I bet you catch it on stuff all the time”
“It looks like a wedding ring; people will assume you are already married”
“You’ll need to get it polished soon”
“Oh, bless him, did he choose it? Oh well at least he tried”
“Is that just temporary? When are you getting the real thing?”
