make sure to do your homework!!!

ive been to zales, kays, and macys to get an idea of what type of ring i wanted to get fh.

here is what zales gave me

7mm band with milgrain setting 7stones 1 ct tw
color i clarity i2 with a 'discount' 2K

went to a wholesale place in the diamond district
this is what they gave me
8mm band with milgrain setting 8stones 1ct tw
color g clarity si2 $1300.

another place with better diamonds color g clarity vs2 for $1200

i guess its true what they say about stores like that doing a serious mark up.

never bought anything at Zales, Kay's Jewelry, Jared, et al...they always charge more $$ for average quality gold/diamond..

Diamond district in NYC is the place to go,,also parts of Chinatown too (but gotta know where they sell the real stuff not counterfeit).

Thanks for the info Roz-wedding bands are the next thing we're doing. We're either going to the person he got my e-ring from (family friend) or the diamond dictrict.

FH got my e-ring from diamond district and we got our bands there too!

Talk about desperate: I saw this amazing diamond band, orig $2,100, she dropped it down to $900.

FH got my ring in the diamon district and we are going back there for my ring - they gave him an insane deal on my ring, so I am hoping for a discount b/c I want BLING!!!!!!!!!!
