I voted for half her gown.

1/2 the gown!

I'll be honest. If I could not afford the dress a bride chose, I would decline the honor of being a BM graciously. To me it seems that by paying for half the dress, it is more of a gift for yourself for the sake of uniformity in a bridal party and not honoring the role your bridesmaid plays. JMO.

i voted for the jewelry and pashmina- because i always assume i am paying for the dress and it is nice to get a gift. jmo.

As much as I want to think my BMs would wear their dresses again...they probably wont. At least a pashmina and jewlery is a gift gift that they can use again and I think they would appreciate it more

My vote went for the jewelry and pashmina. Those are more 'gifty' in my opinion and things I could wear again.

I'd prefer the jewelry. Like the other ladies said, I'd expect to pay for the dress already.

for our GM we did not know what to get them, so we paid for half of their tuxes and it worked out great.

I agree! The jewelry and pashmina is more of a gift that she can use later...the dress, not so much.

thanks for your replies ladies just wanted to get some honest opinions

your answers were great. i really want to get them gifts but one of my friends is in a bridal party where the bride put the deposit for the gowns for the girls and my bm was so excited about it.
it was just a though.
thanks again

Right now...I'd appreciate having 1/2 towards the dress--money is tight!

But in reality, I think the jewelry and pashmina would be a lasting gift, something that everytime the BM wore it, they would think of your wedding.

I actually liked getting jewelry as a BM. I think of the brides whenever I wear the earrings they gave me!

the present is a nice touch i think because you take the time to find them something. i always assume that i'm paying for the dress if i'm in the party
