I was in my cousins wedding 3 yrs ago... I wore her BM dress 5 times after the wedding... The dress was gorgeous and not a normal BM dress...

I was the only BM for my bro/SIL's wedding so I got to pick the dress out. So then I wore it to another wedding a few months later. It was really funny, quite a few of us wore the same outfit to both!

I was a bridesmaid for my sisters wedding in 1990 when I was in college and I wore the dress again to a sorority formal and a fraternity formal. It was a black cocktail dress so it worked well.

Every other BM dress I wore was a horrid nightmare. One was pink taffeta with poufy sleeves, crinolin and a big bow on my butt (in 1987) that I wore in October. Another (in 86)was bright BARNEY PURPLE satin with a matching lace overlay (YIKES) with a rhinestone buckle and a HAT?!?!?! Whats worse is that the hat had pearls on it. So the buckle was rhinestone and the hat was pearls with tulle coming out of the top like a pouf of cotton candy. I wouldnt wear either of those two again, would you?

I actually have.

My cousin's cost a pretty penny so I had them cut it into a 3/4 skirt and make it a bit more 'slim' instead of 'a' line. it ended up costing me a bit of money to do the alterations but i was able to wear the top alone to a casual wedding and the whole outfit to another wedding.

the wedding i am in this week, i am going to take to the same woman and have her cut it short and i'm wearing it to a wedding at the end of July. it's a silk dress and i'm going to rip off the sash and make it slim too.

trish's next week i'll probably just leave as is - not sure if i'll wear it again but at least she got an affordable one so it doesn't matter.

Nope. They end up hanging in my closet for a few years, and then I donate them. I know that BOCES collects dresses for their girls to wear for prom , or I go to Goodwill.

am just afraid the BP of that wedding would have that dress on

I'm afraid of that too. I have a very pretty dress from a wedding I was in last year, but I wouldn't wear it again. I should contact BOCES to see about donating it...that was a great idea.

Oh wow that is so nice where can you do this? I have a few that I would never where again but I have two that I would I would just have to get the bottome cut to more of a fitted a-line then I would where them again but I doubt I would go through that trouble.

Can you please tell me where you can donate your dresses to girls who cannot afford prom dresses I never thought of that

A friend of mine told me about this idea, I just called a local high school and they were more then willing to take them off my hands. They were pleased and they new a few girls that could really use them. It made me feel good.
