Do yourself and the bride a favor and keep your opinions to yourself. If the bride asks about what flowers look better or which dress is best, give your opinion where it's needed. But as far as what you think is the right thing to do, BITE YOUR TONGUE. What's right for some is not right for everyone else. If we all did things the same, what boring weddings we would have. It's all about the bride and groom and what they want.
When you get married some day, you can do whatever you want.
Sorry I'm so negative, I'm having the worst Luck these last few weeks. I have to many opinions flying around and it stressing me out.

if your a bridesmaid
I completely understand where the hostility is coming from. My MOH insists on telling me how my reception hall looks like some sort of Fortress and what a great idea it would be to register at the outlets so I can save my guest $$ (who cares if they don't have what you want!!!)
I just ignore the negative comments - there are too many important things to stress over.
Good Luck and try to keep your cool - I know it's not easy.
