If your family is paying for the wedding...

If your family is paying for the wedding...

and FH's parents are helping, but primarily the costs are 80% being covered by your parents, do you need to go over invitation wording with your FIL's?

I wanted to do the traditional Mr & Mrs ---- request the honor of your presence as their daughter - etc. Do I need to check with the FIL's? I thought this wording was pretty traditional, especially if your parents are paying....

Invitations are more stress than I thought

I tried to get both set of parents involved.
In the end the wording on my invite were very traditional.

I am having issues with my invitation wording as well. My parents are footing the entire bill so I do not want to include his parents name on the invitation. However, my mom says I should becuase they will be insulted. I don't know what to do!

we didn't get them involved with the decisions for the invite, but we did include their names-
my parents paid the majority of the cost- but they were extremely generous, but it's not really about the money, we felt it was the 'right' thing to do to include both parents

Mrs. and Mrs....
and
Mrs. and Mrs...

request the ..

etc..

I want to put son of, but FH's parents are divorced and both remarried, do you think that would be an insult to his step parents?

You could always do:

Son of Mrs. Jane Smith and Mr. John Jones

Step parents names don't HAVE to be listed unless he feels like they are like his parents too.

If you wanted to you could do
Son of
Mr and Mrs. ---
and Mr and Mrs.---

although it might get long...

HOW long have the stepparents been in your life????

eta: I meant fhs life

FH and I are paying for the majority of the wedding, but both of our parents were extremely generous. My parents are paying for a bit more.

I wanted both names on the invite, but the traditional wording... so our invites read:

Mr. and Mrs. Kara's Parents
request the honour of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
Kara MiddleName
to
Todd MiddleName
son of
Mr. and Mrs. Todd's Parents

We ran it by my FILs just b/c we weren't exactly sure if his dad wanted his first and middle name on there. They had no objections.

I think it's polite to run it by them, and I probably would... but I also do not think it's necessary in your situation.

i don't think you HAVE to run it by them, but i think its the polite thing to do... since they are his parents.
i'm a big fan of including both your and his parents on the inviation, no matter who is paying-- because, after all, they are still your/his parents, and they deserve recognition... its not just abotu who is paying for a one-day party
