If your husband or FH....

If your husband or FH....

,.....didnt want to have sex for awhile (say 1 month) b/c of arguments and feeling that sex wouldn't help the relationship get any better would you accept that and understand what he wants right now and move on? Or would you be highly upset and demand sex?

Thats very 'unlikely' from a man...I mean I can see a woman saying that to the man but not vice versa...I would talk to your FH or husband and find out what the real deal is.

If we were having arguments and he felt that we should take a break from sex, then yes I would agree to it. We're a team and if he thinks it would help then I would give it a fair try.

I could never demand sex from him, I wouldn't want to do it if I was forcing him, that wouldn't be enjoyable for either of us.

I would have to agree, let things cool off for awhile.

Agree. and let him have a bit of space and give me space to put things in perspective.

I would never demand sex, but I would ask for a limit as to how long you are taking a break. If he needs this to cool off, then I would follow his wishes, but I would make sure that the break isn't too long. It's not good to withold intimacy for too long, IMO.

ETA: but it looks like in the original post that it says 1 month. Then I would just be sure to stick to the 1 month and not let the break go any longer.

I agree with Cindy too, but I would definiately want to have a discussion as to why he came to such a conclusion.

I hope things are ok with the 2 of u~ i would not demand it just try and figure out why he is asking this and try to come to a conclusion..... hope it all works out!

i can see not feeling 'in the mood' right after an argument etc... but to verbally ask for 'time off' from that seems odd to me. I would ask him to sit down and try to get to the bottom of it.

I wouldnt demand Sex.. but I would demand an explanation. I understand why you wouldnt be in the mood after an argument unless its make up sex

But I would find it weird if he proposed a time frame, instead of trying to fix the problem. Just like if I said we couldnt - my FH would want to know why this would have to go instead of jsut trying to resolve the issue.

This concerns me....an man not wanting sex?? I would definitely start asking some questions.

I'm afraid I have to agree with pigs222seal. I think it's too soon for all of that to be happening if you are recently married..or getting married.

i don't think it's weird for anyone to request the break, but I would want to know what the reasoning was behind it. If you feel it's valid, then I would try to understand and be patient. But if it's for some irrational reason then I would have to have a slightly louder discussion.

I disagree with everyone who says it's unusual for a man not to want sex - different people feel differently - regardless of how new the marriage is. Maybe part of the problem is he's having a harder time adjusting to marriage or there's some other issue that's taking its toll.

People forget that sex is mental and physical. If the mental aspects aren't there - the sex is meaningless and maybe he's a guy who likes it to actually mean something.

I think you need to have a discussion with him and get to the root of what's going on. From there the two of you can determine the best way to resolve the issues.

I agree and I am not sure that withholding sex is going to solve any problem ...and why 1 month? that seems arbitrary...I would make him talk and get to the bottom of it...

I agree also, not all men crave sex all the time and want it no matter what's going on. It sounds like he said one month cause he didn't know what else to say- it probably just came to him. He'll prob feel like it wasn't the right this to say after a while. Just live your lives and don't think about it. when it's right, it will happen.

Is it possible the argument could have been over when to have children? Then, I can understand asking for a break. But it seems so soon in your marriage.
